QuicNet [30/01/24Testnet] [Offline]

That’s right, that’s tipically much easier then setting up a static IP, and less prone to IP conflicts.

My ISP gives me the same internet side IP address if my router is offline for only short periods. Some of the talk is that it takes like 24 hours to be given a new IP address for this ISP.

I am doing some housekeeping before the next test. What is a decent amount of logs to keep I have been using --max_log_files=3 --max_archived_log_files=0 which is somewhat pointless, what would equate to ~2 days or so?

@qi_ma said a few testnets ago 10 uncompressed logs should be about 24hrs worth of logs

ok cool, at what point to they compress?
If I say --max_log_files=30 do they start compressing at say 20 do I lose 10 anyway because archived is set to 0, if that makes sense.

not sure think the default logging got dialled back recently so not sure what the default behaviour is now.

think we need a test net to try it out

It is FIFO queue, when limit is reached the oldest log gets archived and when limit for archived is reached the oldest gets deleted. With archived=0 the oldest log just gets deleted instead of getting archived.

Next testnet is going to be logfull until we know more on the mem-front. So we’re back to keeping 100 logs before archiving eg.

We’re anticipating this to either verify that encryption was involved, or that it’s not the case, and hopefully we’ll be able to move forward eitherway realtively fast. (So not a looong testnet just yet).

When I try to install the client via this script

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/safenetforum-community/test-net-script/main/testnet.sh

I get this error

1: error trying to connect: tcp connect error: Connection refused (os error 111)
2: tcp connect error: Connection refused (os error 111)
3: Connection refused (os error 111)

Any help is appreciated.

Were on a new, incompatible test net.

BasicEconomyTweaks [Early Technical Beta] read the beginning of this one for instructions on the currently live testnet, this one is over (see the “[Offline]” in the title at the end)!

@JeromeBell that script was for a previous testnet when we were using tcp if I remember correctly so it’s out of date and won’t work with this testnet

This one is up to date

Thanks for trying to help.

Testnets are a fast moving target and if any instructions you read are more than a couple of days, err hours old, best check the forum for updates.

Please dont let that stop you trying.
