Ctrl + R and type in reset to reset your nodes. This would remove all the nodes that you see inside Node Status
Reboot your PC
Run Services application from windows search. Now make sure no safenode services are running, if you see any, such as safenode1 or safenode2 etc, then you have to follow the next section.
Run latest launchpad as admin again, you should see 0 nodes here because of the prior reset.
Start nodes (after entering discord id). Now you should see NAT detection running for a couple mintures and then nodes displayed as RUNNING
To remove services manually (windows)
Start terminal as administrator
Run C:\Windows\System32\sc.exe delete safenode1 … C:\Windows\System32\sc.exe delete safenode2 … for all your safenode services (run Services in windows search to see all the running services. Don’t delete any other service other than safenode, it might cause your windows to malfunction.)
After deleting the services, remove these folders: C:\ProgramData\safenode C:\ProgramData\safenode-manager
Reboot PC and you should see the services removed inside Services application. Now you can use the launchpad to run nodes.
I reset the safenode-manager, but now I’m not sure what to do as I have two drives, C: and E:.
Right from the start, Launchpad indicated that I had 0 GB of free space, probably because the system by default checks the availability of space on the C: drive, while I only have the system on it and there is no more space on it, while on the second drive E: I have plenty of free space.
Since I couldn’t figure out if the above could be the reason for the nodes startup problems and how to change the path to the disk with free space, I did it myself with the help of other users and changed the path to the E: drive, where the nodes finally managed to start up.
However, after startup, the computer slowed down a lot and consumed large amounts of power and interrupted the Internet connection, even though only 5 nodes were running, and when I ran 10 nodes, the computer almost stopped working, and I’m wondering if this could be influenced by the fact that:
when I add new nodes then retrieving latest version for safenode runs on: C:\ProgramData\safenode-manager\downloads\safenode.exe, while the nodes run on: E:\nodes\services\safenode1\safenode.exe ?
yesterday after updating using the safenode-manager according to the instructions posted by Jim, it appeared that the new nodes were started on the path: Log path: C:\ProgramData\safenode\logs\safenode1
and it turns out that despite the lack of space on the C: drive (it is free now about 1 GB) the nodes started up, and also the computer began to work much better, also the power consumption slowed down.
That’s why now I don’t know if I should in the next command:
This solved the problem for me as well under Ubuntu 22.04. I reset the old nodes, downloaded node-launchpad-0.3.9-x86_64-unknown-linux-musl and added new nodes. I haven’t rebooted.
This worked for me as well adding 5 nodes today, just sent the log info after 3 hours on Discord Beta Support channel to @roland so you all can have a look …
You dont use safenode-manager and launchpad together…it’s one or the other.
When you use safenode-manager status --details, you will see no nanos…all zero, because they were transferred upwards for tallying by the discord bot.
1/ Use only safenode-manager
2/ For healthcheck of nodes: safenode-manager status --details
3/ To check nanos, in discord enter /rank command
4/ if you want 5 nodes and their logs on E then:
OOohhh, that’s an interesting point. Things might still favour the current bootstrap nodes (due to routing table existence on many more nodes) if you use --peer! (cc @Shu something to consider in startup stats/connection methods)
I only use safenode-manager, while launchpad just checked after the update but it still does not work and I posted this information for the knowledge of the team.
And here’s the problem, because since I managed to get the nodes up and running, that is, since June 8, I still don’t have any nanos, and the ranking position on Discord still reports that I don’t have any rewards yet, of course my owner Discord ID was indicated from the beginning.
What can I do about it?
That’s what I did, the nodes work but I still don’t know what drive should run on - as I wrote after the update the day before yesterday, the nodes ran on the default drive C: although I only have 1 GB of available space there, so after yesterday’s update I ran the nodes on the E: drive.
absolutely, or it becomes a punishment, but I believe some previous testing by @Shu suggested that --home-network earned less. not sure if that remains the case.
home-network has a much higher error rate and I would think a higher rate of missing giving quotes because of those errors. The dev team will be working on that to reduce the error rate.
Also who knows what the actual work of a relay node is. Surely its is not forwarding every packet.
Do you know anyone with a free code? I signed up for the wait list on discord the moment it was available but haven’t gotten a DM yet. Don’t want to have to wait until wave 3!
