Assemble at the Start Line. The Beta is About to Begin

How do I add 1.5 TB from my Data drive to my node? Looks like the launchpad can only see my Computer drive…

eddy@Hal9000:/media/eddy/Data$ ./node-launchpad
Doesn’t do the trick

Now that is going south

If you did that you would break the whole towns internet

You remember it was all family friendly :joy:

In case any new comers were not sure what I was on about back in the day when testnets could maybe only manage a few pics before self destruction. We would upload pictures of chickens or cockrels.

Well that is your “side” of the story

Not really, my 1 TB is worth only 1 nano

I probably have to install Ubuntu on the Data drive and try again

1.5 TB is even a rookie number compare to

You could try using safenode directly as in

safenode --owner <discordID> --root-dir /media/eddy/Data

Ok, will try later thx and happy testing

I tried mounting my drive to the node folder path of launchpad, but it simply does not work yet to use different drives other than the system root through launchpad, but it will in the future.

Thus, I’ve turned back to safenode manager, and simply added my ssd path when starting services, now all works well from my external ssd.

My question is, how do I see if my new safenode manager nodes are connected to my discord ID?

It’s not displayed through the safenode manager balance command. Anyone know? Thanks

safenode-manager status --details

Just thought about something, would be cool to have a Ai beta support bot on Discord, to help newcomers and others. Are users allowed to build and run a BetaAiSupport-Bot on discord? @JimCollinson @joshuef

Why not use safenode-manager for managment of nodes and node-launchpad just for quick checking of status and earned nanos ?

You also posted this command:
–enable-metrics-server => optional, if you want the stats to be displayed inside the launchpad,

Which means, that you use node-launchpad.

I have some vps nodes too, so let’s get that out of the way before my moan.

I am struggling to understand why some of the folk that understand the network/design and purpose, OG as the term of the moment is, why is there so much promoting vps use in Discord?

Doesn’t make any sense to me, promote what the network is intended to do, it is meant to avoid all of that.

I am personally using a mini computer with a home network, no more than 20 nodes max, mostly through safenode manager, and launchpad.

I want to use common gear, nothing special, to see the real-world improvement and operation as the beta progresses to launch.

But vps is legit for those who want to use it. Might be good to run both for testing purposes. But not for me. Cheers

Well I definitely can’t claim to be doing that, I just think we should not be introducing new folk to the idea of vps unnecessarily.

Once the prize fund dissappears 90% of those nodes will get turned off and the network will collapse.

Well, my only concern is, will there be enough reward incentive for the network to grow in the beginning? Will the nanos valuate higher fast enough? I think so, but :person_shrugging:

I am not concerned about it finding equilibrium. I am very concerned about the vast amount of nodes that will be turned off overnight if we continue promoting the use of vps to everyone in Discord.

I’m concerned about that too.

Not particularly due to VPS, but because the motivation right now is rewards and when that goes, VPS or no, the incentives go and participation may drop off a cliff.

I’m not sure what the best way to deal with that is. Obviously Autonomi have a plan but I’ll seems a tricky problem to me.

I get that VPS exacerbates the cliff, but I’m not sure it’s the real issue here.

Surely it is clear that using vps is going to result in running at a loss.

Therefore they will be killed the moment beta rewards is over.
Clear as day to me.

I agree it exacerbates this issue but I don’t see it going away if people weren’t using VPS.
