Free disk space (or whatever you would like to provide) /35.
But it is highly unlikely that your nodes are going to need that by Tuesday.
I wouldn’t pay too much attention.

Node size is part of the node’s code. ALL nodes in the network are the same size.
Maybe thats what you meant and I misunderstood?
I misunderstood your response, sorry Josh. I knew 3 would be fine and should plenty of space for more. @neo got what I was asking.
We need to be put to bed
Haha it’s 9pm and I am about to crash been up since 4… long day ready for club duvet
That’s what I would have assumed but got confused when I read something on discord about choosing storage size but I was probably reading it wrong. Thanks Rob
Well then we are still possibly talking over each other.
You can choose to start 10 nodes on a 32GB drive, if that makes sense.
Anyhow, not going to confuse matters more
Now you’ve done it. How is that possible if each node requires 32GB plus 3GB for logs?
Thats what I thought you were getting at.
Nothing prevents it so to speak. Shunning will when you run out of space.
It’s a bit of a honor system I guess. Rob offered a solution but idk that MaidSafe see it as a issue.
Gotcha. Yeah, it’d be dumb to overdue it, get shunned and not earn but I suppose people tend to be overzealous and/or malicious as well so we can never expect too much, can we?
Thanks for the clarification. Imma crash out. Goodnight guys!
It can be managed pretty easily with a script. So nodes get killed if your system runs out of space.
The 1 node I run in AWS is set without an owner so I can get a few nanos. I sent 1 to another machine that runs my safe_cost_tracker script because it needs a non zero balance to get estimates.
I’ve sent the other 6 I’ve earned to a client to upload something small. The only thing I had handy was the ‘autonomi.mp4’ video from a few months ago. It is 2.2MB so I was expecting a cost of 5 nanos. And that is what safe files estimate gave

Cool.
But when I tried to upload it got a cost of 10 nanos and I don’t have enough.

I know that the estimate can be different from the actual upload cost but I’ve not logged a cost that isn’t the absolute minimum of 0.000000003 since the network started.
Is the estimate function accurate? Has anyone else seen a difference if they’ve tried uploading something?
Here is my begging bowl if anyone has another few nanos so we can get something uploaded ourselves:-

All hail @Josh ! The seer of the Autonomi community.
We never got to 190k nodes and around 2300UTC on Saturday there were around 167k nodes so I was a good 13k off the mark.
But look at this:-
A cycnical person might suggest that he or someone else is starting up and stopping nodes to make it hover around 167k nodes which it has been for hours. But they overshot and the peak was at 169k!
Still a win for @josh though.
I have almost exactly 0.1% of those nodes
If only I had such superpowers
My best friend from childhood however swears that I have unreasonable and unfair good luck because of being born on St Patrick’s day.
