I am well aware of that, but if you have been following the progress of the network tests, you can see for yourself that everyone is surprised at how quickly and effectively the software core is being developed.

Hey folks, what is the biggest file any of you have managed to put in this testnet?
Mine is about 60MB. Next largest I have tried was about 500MB which failed. There is much in between I have not tried.

I suspect we will test this very soon. The rewards payments are an issue with larger files and churning network. Works underway there. Also, the client side (self_ecryption) is getting some love to allow it to have unlimited file sizes, well within the bounds of the OS.

Nice thing now is, we don’t want a bigger team. Of course, we would not turn folk away, but time investment in new members is huge. I feel the team is way more than capable right now, but perhaps a libp2p specialist would be nice, or perhaps sponsor somebody there. It’s not necessary for launch, though.
Where we are is a good place, a very good place and a few more iterations and we are there. There is one angle we are working in the background related to chaos based sybil defence, it’s quite powerful but extremely simple and the design we have makes it very natural. So simple (tick), natural (tick) and I am happy as a coot in fresh water 
In parallel, the launch messages, messaging channels and opportunities are taking more time in house. That is looking fantastic and maintains our strong vision of human empowerment and sovereignty. Not a simple cheap storage offering, much more than that. Interestingly, it’s also back to first principles and answers the question “why are we all here” and “what problems are we solving”, the answers are even more obvious today than 2014 and the solution looks to be even more compelling.
In essence, I believe all the arrows are pointing the same direction and the goal is well within reach now. More importantly, we are proving so every single week with proof point testnets and all we need to do is keep going.

This iteration progresses faster than previous iteration, it is right.
However you can’t extrapolate easily.
Especially in case when precise planning is not possible because of complexity.

Very interested to see that as well. Those who have successfully uploaded anything >5Mb,whether as a single file or as a dir totalling >5Mb please upload the results here. Cos I suspect they are few and far between -
Delighted to be proved wrong and always mindful that file transfer performance was not a major objective of this particular testnet.
I have no doubt there is much optimisation to be done, much logging that can be skipped in production etc etc but its effing pitiful right now…
Aaaaaaaand… this test will only be truly worthwhile if there is a lot of data available to be downloaded - especially data folk want to download - so please keep trying to share all your mp3s and videos etc.

Approach seems sound. But bugs w/ large files seem to exist (a lot more errors for larger files it seems).
Maidsafe nodes are accumulating SNT 
. I have not seen many community reports on this, I’d love to know what folk have been paid for running their nodes.

I don’t know if this would help but I recently found a free way to do screen recordings. I don’t know what the usage limits are but could come in hand when people are trying to explain things. I need to see and visualize things to make it sink in. Screen & Video Recorder | Panopto Express

Request, can we do a consistent date format for the Testnets titles? sometimes we get mm/dd/yyyy sometimes dd/mm/yyyy sometimes yyyy-dd-mm sometimes text.

Date should also make logical sense, either smallest to largest dd/mm/yyyy or largest to smallest yyyy/mm/dd.
