Is that a Wave on the Horizon? Beta Rewards are coming ashore!

Hi All!

As you will know from the Roadmap and the hints we have been dropping left right and centre, we have been working on some exciting ways to get the community involved in Beta and in turn reward you all for helping us stress test the network.

Introducing the Autonomi Beta Rewards Program

We’re excited to announce Beta Rewards Program is now open for Wave 2 sign-ups! Don’t miss your chance to join the next group of beta testers and be part of testing of Autonomi. So get signed up fast if you want to participate.

When does the Beta Network go live?

You’ll be happy to know we aren’t making you wait long.

As well as being able to hear about what Bux got up to at Consensus, the Beta Network will go live tomorrow, shortly after our Discord Stages at 20:00 GMT.

So make sure to join us tomorrow. It’s going to be an exciting event, and we look forward to celebrating with you all.

And anyone in Wave 1 should get their nodes warmed up and ready. Let the fun commence!

I don’t know if I registered correctly for beta 1, I didn’t receive any confirmation message on the day, apart from the fact that I registered as moon and my username turned out to be jvm0912 :frowning:… now I’m registering for beta 2 and I still haven’t received any confirmation message

Amazing news! Well done for everything that has got the project to this stage. Sticking to the new schedule is really impressive. Any start date this month would have counted but just now is the icing on the cake!

Only feelers, and one said they want to join. No invites available yet

Thats the way it reads. People will be people though and also some will not even read that.

Autonomi is excluding those when it comes to their attention I expect. Its standard and they would be required to do this.

Provided they send the tokens to the foundation and can see the IPs they come from, what is the chance they are obligated not to pay rewards to our American brothers?

Many people have VPNs exiting in the country with most servers (USA) so IP address is not good enough to exclude on.

But its a possibility if they have to go that far in policing it. But without KYC its unlikely in my opinion. They have done the correct thing in stating as part of the T&Cs that those countries cannot participate, and how can they check who is using USA servers to exit their VPNs from and who is a native US person. If I was to visit the US then that will not prevent me from participating. Its the residents who are prevented.

It would be wise for those in the countries excluded to not participate or know they risk not receiving tokens at the end.

That’s why my USA located ubuntu vps stopped working few days ago…

I doubt this is the reason, if there is an exclusion it will be for the awards, the network itself has no way to filter the USA IPs…

I find this troubling. Will this also be the case for the final network? How can we expect to build the next internet for all with such restrictions?

This is most likely only for the rewards, basically 100% of the crypto projects that give something away from a centralized entity like a Foundation exclude certain countries like the US.

I would highly doubt it. As @Dimitar said

But additionally

  • This is a giveaway (contest). Some youtube channels have contests where certain countries are excluded from receiving prizes (eg Jays2cents computer channel, or some of the rocket channels). The prizes consist of mech that the excluded can buy
  • The foundation cannot control the network (live or beta). This makes it impossible for the foundation to exclude anyone in the live network. People from the excluded countries can still test the beta networks, just not participate in the contest/rewards program
  • Running nodes means you are earning the digital tokens (not crypto assets like BTC etc) and earning them is quite different to receiving them as prizes/rewards in a leader board contest

I think it would be great if the folks in the excluded countries could keep their test tokens. Then they could use them for uploading and get at least some benefit from participating.

Considering people could easily be earning a lot more test tokens that many of the prizes will be is not fair to those in the rewards program.

And the bottom line is that it still has to be an air dropped since the test tokens disappear once genesis occurs. Thus you are back to the foundation needing to “reward” (air drop) them and the problem once again exists
