Beta Rewards Network Launch Wed 12GMT — Here's what you need to do!

Because the scoring for leaderboard can do only Discord bot for Discord members. You can anyway join the beta network without rewards.
To join the Discord rewards you only need email verification, join the Autonomi channel and agree with channel rules.

@chriso I’m getting a

exit; node-launchpad failed: Error: 0: Failed to parse app data

with new launcher. I did have the previous launcher but stopped nodes and deleted the launcher. Not sure how to reset further than that. Any advice?

Sonoma 14.5

Edit: Solved

Deleted ‘safe’ folder under Application Support.

New Launchpad is now working.

Do I understand correctly that it is possible to participate in this test without Discord account (and without rewards)?

Yes and as far as I understand, you can accumulate tokens in wave 1 and when wave 2 comes, you can add your username and have a lead. I don’t know if I understood correctly…

As far as I know, if you don’t provide --owner <discord_id> the nanos will stay in your node’s wallet. Once we know how to move or spend those nanos you will be able to use those to upload data.

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
udev 657M 0 657M 0% /dev
tmpfs 185M 1.4M 184M 1% /run
/dev/mmcblk0p2 58G 5.4G 50G 10% /
tmpfs 924M 336K 924M 1% /dev/shm
tmpfs 5.0M 16K 5.0M 1% /run/lock
/dev/mmcblk0p1 510M 76M 435M 15% /boot/firmware
tmpfs 185M 40K 185M 1% /run/user/1000

This is the output. But I’m not that technical that I can make cake of this in relation with the node-launchpad?!

Yes.

You can accumulate nanos by not setting a discord ID in the launchpad or if running nodes/safenode-manager by not supplying the --owner option

You can then use the test nanos earned to upload data

That really doesn’t make sense as far as fairness goes. The earnings towards a leader board only accrue after giving a valid discordID (ie one in the wave) since the nodes have to be recreated with the owner ID. Also not fair since its not competing on a level playing field, kind of a wave 2+wave 1 vibe but only get rewarded from wave 2 pool. In any case its not possible since the nodes are recreated when a discord ID is given or changed

@JimCollinson will you clarify the case, please?

I got excited and started the nodes already this morning with the launchpad before the network was live. They did say running on the launchpad, but I then stopped them after Jim said it wasn’t active yet. Do I need to wipe, or refresh anything before I start them again when the network goes live? I’m on windows 11. Thanks

It is possible to run a node with discord id A, shut it down and then restart with discord id B or none. The node would retain the same peer-id here. But I am not sure what happens with the nanos. My guess is if A is on the list for wave 1, the nanos for each put earned go to maidsafe and adds to leaderboard. If A is not on the list they are gone.
If discord id is not set, nanos stay with the node and you will be able to spend them. When you switch to discord id B after the start of wave 2 and B is on the list only new earnings go to maidsafe and leaderboard.

My understanding is that if the network is stable and doesn’t reset that’s exactly what will happen and that’s why they don’t want to give out upload tokens, you have to generate them with a node.

Thanks! I was thinking maybe you had a ‘/home’ partition and that was nearly full. But that isn’t the case. /home/youruser will be under:-

/dev/mmcblk0p2 58G 5.4G 50G 10% /

where there is clearly the 50GB free you were saying. So it’s a bit of a mystery at this stage. I’m sure with the skills and experience we have here we’ll be able to fix it.

What is the OS running on the Pi5? Is it Raspbian for example? Or Ubuntu?

Can you post the output of:-

uname -a

to give full output of what the OS is? Might be useful.

This won’t work. When you add your Discord Username, it resets your nodes and your local balance too. So you start afresh.

What about when you start more nodes at a later date will all the previous nodes earnings be wiped?

Or they just get wiped for the new wave?

If A is not there then they are gone. If not in wave 1 then don’t supply a discord id for owner till wave 2 and supply the right one as owner

You can earn test tokens and Jim wanted that so people could try uploads. The node s/w has been changed so if no discord id given then you keep the test tokens to use

Can anyone say how to change directory to not the main hdd?

I did hear right and read right from the instructions. LOL

Any node with your discord ID will earn against that ID. New or not

The earnings are sent as they are earned so stopping or resetting will not take away anything earned. You keep the same ID all the way through testing period

I am not part of wave 1, but I would like to test the launchpad. I am on an RPI with Pi OS. When pressing ctrl+G to add some nodes, the following window appears and the arrows and all interactions are not working, which means I cannot add a node.

As anyone encountered this issue before ? is it also showing for you “Using 0GB of 0GB available space” until you have added at least a node?

Thank you for your help!
