Worried about the "rebranding", anyone else?

It is certainly as you wrote, but do we necessarily have to go with the mainstream?

The planets has not accelerated at all and it is not SafeNet that is late,
It is the rest of the world that is 18 years behind because no one we know has created an autonomous network yet. .

Whatever the rebranding brings, we should remember this:

Once - No pain, no gain.
Recently - No chain, no gain.
Future - No Safe, no wave. :point_left:

The mainstream is where those millions are that David is referring to. They are the mass that is required.

Personally I think the current branding is very outdated. It looks old and unsophisticated to me (hope I’m not offending anyone). The whole idea behind this project is that we’re building something undeniably ambitious which is to become the future of the internet. IMO we need a brand, name, logo, design, etc. that better reflects that vision.

I for one welcome our new rebranding overlords…

Quite apart from anything else, do any of you have a clue what insane values the few physical artefacts bearing the snowflake logo and SAFE/Maidsafe branding will be worth in a few months ?

My T-shirt could be worth more than me^, my laptop’s value will come not from its beefy CPU and RAM but from the Safenetwork sticker on it. Those who were lucky enough to score a SAFE hoodie at the dev meetup a few yrs back will have a fast-appreciating asset if they can get the curry stains out.
@dimitar will have to cut about in a single glove like that dancer chappie cos his tattoo will be so highly desired, the unscrupulous will cut his hand off and sell it on Ebay.

I tell you, original SAFE merch will be in only second place to Lambos on the wish-list of the new SAFEzillionaires.

^ Actually not difficult but its a nice XXL cyan in good condition, not terribly sweaty and never worn to a curry shop, offers over 10000 MAID.

I think it will portray the builders, believers and founders of this tech and we should all be very proud. I have the tee shirts and will wear them with pride every time and when folk say what is that, I will tell them a story.

Now is the time to download the t-shirts templates and make fakes

I got the shirt back in 2017. I wish I had asked for a size L back then.

I know that feeling but the mrs was happy with it :joy:

I wore mine so often, it now has holes at the elbows. ^^ (Could be seen as a metaphor to SAFE’s hole punching efforts though).

I am very excited to hear about the rebranding and can’t wait to see the details. Others have listed all the reasons why a rebranding is necessary, but I would add that David and the Maidsafe team have made excellent decisions when it counted and this one is not likely to be any different. Getting a CEO that has experience at this phase of a project to drive what needs to be done is spot-on. I have no doubt these decisions are well-thought out and will turn out to be just what is needed in the long term. Bumps along the way can be scary but a big, bold project like this one needs to be properly rolled out and communicated. Speed will be important to grow the network quickly for stability and to prevent a clone from usurping all the great work done by the team.

Once the new brand is rolling, maybe we could auction off the remaining old safe materials if there are any to charity.

How to tell folk you live on a farm without telling them you live on a farm.

Like most non-feudal lords of the manor on here, I keep my T-shirts in a drawer. I also keep my drawers in a drawer - the one above the T-shirts but below the socks.

Wait a second you have a separate drawer for your drawers to that of your socks? Baller!

Yes, all my socks are balled up in pairs.

There is also a large drawer that is full of single socks - every so often me and Mrs Southside get tired of crosswords and other intellectual puzzles and spend a happy evening trying to reduce the number of single socks.

Appreciate you very much David - and the journey all those here have been on.

Please know (for the benefit of ‘the tape’) that I am and always will be super respectful of the past and what has been imagined, tested and built here (beyond just the tech) … I also have a whole new appreciation for Ants …

While sure you will all let us know your thoughts (good and bad) my thought is, like a child growing up (apt as now 18) - change is something that signifies growth (and for a network/platform like this, growth is key not only to bringing the vision and aspirations to life, but to even be seen and considered in the first place).

Like the intro of Discord and short videos, while not everyone will be a fan (that’s okay, and somewhat inevitable) - if you believe in substance over style then please be assured, the mission is very much to check that box too.

The Agogometer has been re-commissioned and
is thrumming away at a healthy 8.2
I got a new Trepidationicator module for it as well but it needs calibrated. It did show a sudden drop after reading @Bux above though

is immensely reassuring, really looking forward to the big reveal.

So much has changed in the world since David started. How has the project changed in his mind over the years.
