Worried about the "rebranding", anyone else?

A healthy Safe Network has a large initial community of users, node operators, and, most importantly, developers. To cultivate this community, it’s crucial to engage in outreach efforts. A new brand that aligns with the core values of the network can effectively convey the right message and attract more participants. While the current community is valuable, it remains relatively small.

This feels like the perfect moment to get the brand right.

Couldn’t have said it any better. Onwards and upwards.

Personally I don’t think it would hurt to do a rebrand, people will still know what it was originally. The technology and the people are still here, but for branding it can make a fresh new appearance and inspire new people to join. I see ‘The SafeNetwork’ as concept that has now fully matured and which can be launched under a new name to show we are no longer a concept but an actual release.

It depends on the point of view, I’m sure a tattoo on the left arm would hurt me more

Any tech marketer would 100% rebrand and rename the current definitions.

Very few people have heard of the current branding and 18years since it was first developed, marketing and branding has come on a little……

Hopefully the new naming can tie in with some other leading companies so that any collaboration and name joining can easily float off the tongue

I hope though they keep the network symbol. it illustrates things in a very tidy and simple way

I am in favour of the re-brand and the re-launch that comes with it.

Will MAID and EMAID be re-branded too? I hope so but it seems like a lot of work for tokens with a very limited shelf life (we hope).

Stop the rebrand! Or we should start a “change Dimitar’s tattoo” community fund. But first, let’s see how the new(?) logo looks.

Well they didn’t say the logo was changing.

Even if there is a new logo, it doesn’t stop there being used alternatives as well like the current one.

Will the address of forum change? Will all the links become invalid?

And that’s where we are now. The network is finishing completion so the new commercial CEO has been brought in to bring a better message than what the techies could make up in between the coding sessions.

And we can love it our hate it all we want or pretend that the community has any say in it, but in the end maidsafe is still a for-profit company with obligations to it’s share holders and it’s employees and they are the first ones that have to be taken care of. They took all the risk.

At what time can we expect the update with the rebranding tomorrow? Does anyone know?

:date: Wednesday: is the day we share our new name and identity, we hope it’s not just a nod to the journey that many of you have been on with us, but also a brand that will add momentum and relevance as we look to expand our reach - ahead of launching the network later this year!

:socialtwitter: We will also be hosting our bi-weekly X Spaces at Wednesday, 20 March 2024 22:00 it will be recorded but if you’d like to join us to discuss:

“what we need (and what we should forget) when it comes to really scaling decentralized tech!”

We’d love to see you there

The optimal timing to unveil big news such as this probably varies depending on the platform in question. A comprehensive release across all platforms throughout the day seems plausible, with consideration for a later release on Twitter for heightened engagement. As for the Twitter event tomorrow evening, it doesn’t seem explicitly positioned as a brand launch event from the description provided, although I could be wrong about this.

Not at all worried.

This network is probably going to become one of those brand names that eventually enters the dictionary to describe network and communication technology, like Hoover did for their brand.

Looking forward to finding out what they picked.

Re-branding is a nice underline of all those years of test networks that may have outdated information dotted around the internet.

We are getting a working, brand new cellophane wrapped product with a fresh name stamped on it.
Ready for the general consumer.

Safex is the second least likely name to be used haha. I forgot about number 1 though, I remember this bunch of scammers with a whitepaper that was just word salad.

A new CEO and especially one like @Bux is gonna make a splash. Not for the sake of it, but to turn the R&D ship into a mainstream product and service.

A rebrand signals the end of one era and the start of this networks’ life in the mainstream.

It took a mammoth effort to get here and we all know that, Bux is very aware of it and is sensitive to that and also gives a nod every so often. She is using the community here and discord to slow release info to please us all and give us our place.

However, this animal is not one I can ride as the CEO and this was always gonna be the case. I am more than delighted we found the right person t the right time, serendipity for sure.

The network launch is a sensitive beast, it depends on value, value of data, value of customers and the value of a hungry audience of early adopters (us). The balance of doing that with coins to start that have no value is massive. So the start will be tentative and scary, it may stumble a bit, I would be amazed if it did not. After all this is the child’s first steps, but this child has something others don’t. The design is truly decentralised and that means is needs mass, it needs millions of ants and it will get them, maybe not on day one, but soon.

So There is a job here, @joshuef and @JimCollinson are aware of this and all over it, but @Bux is charging from the front and has to.

Scary, hell yea, exciting, of course, the right thing and the right time, no shit Sherlock.

These next few months will define the network and community and we will need resilience. We are well prepared for that, after all these years.

So brand, name, splash are all hand in hand and part of a charge that we have to make.

At least that is my take, I love this point right here. We leave behind the crawling through mud and have reached solid ground. We need to run now and people will hear our name!!
