Is it possible to SWAP my locked tokens on the HitBTC exchange for the new ones if I can provide all the relevant info about the transfer from my wallet to the wallet that the exchange has but can’t release to me. The tokens are still in the wallet so nothing has altered since I initially transferred the tokens. I would appreciate any info about what action I could take to get my tokens back, either MAID or whatever the new one will be called…cheers.
Unfortunately no.
Proof is impossible since any screen shot can be faked, block chain entries can be claimed as yours, or worse another claims your info relates to them, even someone signing their send to address could be a case where the address was sold with its assets and the other moved them to the exchange. How is the foundation to know your or their claim is the right one since one of the two might have hacked keys. So unfortunately there is no real way to verify.
Basically you need to get your assets into addresses you control to be absolutely sure.
Any other way will take a lot of time to ensure there is no other claimant for those assets you provided the documentation of addresses, signed messages, transactions, etc. Then the waiting game happens and would require a cost on the part of the foundation to do the legal work in order to process such a claim, if they would even entertain the idea since it;ll cost lawyers etc.
Also if the exchange then supplies the assets to you then you could then claim those coins as well? It’d be a bit of a mess in the long run
Not your keys, not your assets
I read at some point that any OMI tokens being held on defunct exchanges would be blacklisted and the owners would be componsated when the change over happens. Are all the people who have tokens on exchanges the UK can no longer use going to lose their tokens? I can prove where the tokens came from and where they are. There is no way it could possibly be anything else. The HitBTC exchange wont release them to me. Are you going to allow them to swap and steal my tokens???
Such a possibility would be nice … but how? None but the exchange and perhaps the government it’s under can force compensation and there is no magic technology that can enable it.
What do you imagine anyone here can do about it? If you have some ideas, please share.
That was just a wish list things expressed by a couple of people and for the reasons I gave above, it would end up an expensive exercise and really not possible.
Also exchanges charged fees for deposits and/or withdrawals, and for trades.
So they will be definitely holding legal MAID and entitled to have them exchanged for ANT. Poloniex for instance prob has millions from fees, because of all the activity that happened there over many years
So, can I assume there is no chance my tokens will be swapped even though I can prove they are located in a wallet held by the HitBTC exchange, which can’t release them due to technical issues they aren’t able to resolve, or aren’t willing to undertake? It’s like knowing the address of the burglar who stole your goods, but you can’t be bothered to knock on his door because he has a long driveway. I can assure you, I have never been put off from walking a long road. I will do whatever is needed to get my tokens back, they will be refunded if it’s the last thing I do. Dimitar, your comments on this suject at least offer some hope, but the negativity from others is disturbing. It’s almost as if they’re taking pleasure from their ‘no hope, accept your lose’ attitude…pfft! Something that could be worth a million pounds in the near future isn’t something you give up on.
I very much doubt anyone is taking any form of pleasure from your situation.
However you have been told many times there is very little/nothing Maidsafe/Autonomi can do in the circumstances. And you have been told exactly why.
Please do not take out your justifiable frustration on the team…
Not your keys? Not your coins <— Its the same with any exchange.
No pleasure at all … but giving false hope is not good either. I’m very open to hearing ideas, but realistically the problem seems intractable unless you can bring a gov. enforcement agency or otherwise get HitBTC to mend their ways - as they are the one’s causing the grief here, not any of us.
The biggest problem is the proof. Someone else could provide proof that those assets are their’s and not yours. Once its on an exchange signing messages is not a thing. Screen shots can be faked by the other person. Transaction details on the exchange can be faked as well by the other person. Hitbtc could return your MAID and thus there are now 2 ANT for each of those MAID
So many things can be shown and all faked. Re-read my first post.
I can assure no one replying in this topic is taking any pleasure at all. Its is a very bad situation and @rusty.spork has been reaching out to hitbtc to try and resolve the problem and get the MAID released so they can be withdrawn.
When something is impossible its not negativity, but reality and only negative to your hope.
It’d do no good for you to have people give you false hope. In fact if you re-read my first reply I give you the hope that with enough time and providing certain info to the foundation and be willing to compensate them for the money they’ll need to spend then you may have a tiny bit of hope. But expect it to take 1 to 3 years since they have to wait for anybody else to claim the MAID.
But to be clear anyone who has sent sufficient BTC to hitbtc can claim the MAID (to that value of their BTC) that resides on hitbtc. There is no concrete proof that they did not trade their btc for MAID and they can provide (faked) screenshots showing the transaction details and trade details to claim that MAID. They can sign messages showing the btc was sent from their address which they have keys for. But once in hitbtc then all can be faked.
The biggest hope is that @rusty.spork is successful in his endeavours to get a positive response from hitbtc.
But the general rule in crypto is not your keys not your assests and noone can change that.
Maybe you could sue hitbtc. that is one positive.
Cannot urge this enough, the people responding here I can confirm have sorrow that you or anyone is losing from hitbtc withholding the MAID. The team is actively trying to get a response from hitbtc to resolve this.
Please understand this problem is not being ignored and is of a great concern to the foundation and Maidsafe.
Just look at the topics here about hitbtc and you will see.
