Warning about the HitBTC exchange

This is a serious warning about using the HitBTC exchange. I transferred thousands of MAID tokens to the exchange at the start of the year. The address I sent the MAID to was supplied by the exchange. The tokens never arrived in my account and I’ve spent the past few months trying to get HitBTC to do something about it but to no avail. All I get as a response is they’re working on it and I’ll get notified when there’s any progress. No chance of that happening though as I think I’ve lost my tokens to them. The tokens are visible in the address I sent them to, so surely it doesn’t take months to resolve any issues to transfer them to my account? And now I’m even more convinced I’ll never see my tokens again as I tried to withdraw the 558 tokens I still had sitting on the exchange only to get a message saying somethings gone wrong. I notified the exchange and asked them what the problem was only to be told they have a lot of emails to deal with and they’ll be in touch when they can. So here’s the warning…don’t deal with the HitBTC exchange and if you have anything on it get it off as soon as possible. I doubt if I’ll ever get my tokens back so be warned!

Thanks for the warning. You are better off converting to EMAID and using the DEFI exchange.

When I click on the link it tells me I have been blocked. What does the link show if you’re not blocked?

There have been warnings on here about HitBTC since at least 2018.
A simple search of the forum would have told everyone HitBTC are a bunch of crooks.

Why did the company not do something about then? When I started buying Maid tokens in 2018 it was the only place you could get them as far as I was aware. I had no issues with HitBTC till my last deposit didn’t show up in my account. The wallet address I sent the tokens to still has them in it, so I’m hoping it’s a technical issue that will get resolved.

I sent the tokens from my wallet to sell them, not to store them. I should have converted them to erc20 first, but didn’t want the hassle of converting them…an expensive lesson learned. :face_holding_back_tears:

I hope you get it resolved that’s a terrible lesson to learn. I hope it wasn’t your whole bag in one go.

After you have used uni swap there is no going back to centralised exchanges it’s just so much better.

HitBTC have done this before, and unfortunately there’s nothing that can be done except messaging regularly & waiting… they’ve always sorted it out eventually before, but really they shouldn’t be publishing deposit addresses if withdraw isn’t functioning… they are idiots.

Hope it gets sorted before too long for you!

Thanks for the hope you’ve given me by your comment. It’s a lot of money to lose when the alt coin pump starts.

Yeah, ERC20 conversion is literally the only method to ultimately trade from MAID now. Believe me I’ve exhausted all options. It’s a little ridiculous that it’s basically no longer in existence until the network goes live, which has a set date, and then DEX goes live, which doesn’t have a set date — but it’s understandable given the track record of the token going on infinite exchanges and nothing but bad things happening, though Bittrex seemed pretty reliable or something. I’ll be attempting some on-boarding stuff for eMAID later.

“I transferred thousands of MAID tokens to the exchange at the start of the year. The address I sent the MAID to was supplied by the exchange. The tokens never arrived in my account and I’ve spent the past few months trying to get HitBTC to do something about it but to no avail.”

So you transferred MAID at the start of the year, when their MAID addresses were still accepting deposits “successfully”. And so, the MAID never showed up on the exchange interface; but they are still technically on the address provided by their database/interface? Did you just give up after that, until the “past few months”? I independently saw just the other day via VPN that earlier June (wait, “July” actually?) was the last time their MAID stuff was working (at least on a larger scale), which is a “few” months ago, but maybe that’s just coincidence.

Just trying to learn a little more details.

Did I just give up??? I’ve been emailing them every week to try to get my tokens released and I’ll keep at them until they do release them. I’ve dealt with HitBTC since 2018 and never had an issue like this. I had no idea other people were having problems with MAID tokens or I’d just have converted them to eMaid and sent them to Bitmart to sell, but I couldn’t be bothered going through the conversion palaver again.

I am in the process of reaching out. Hopefully I can get the ball rolling for you with HitBTC. I looked on their website, and looks like MAID has 7 pending deposits, I recon one of those is you.

I suspect its going to be a waiting game unfortunately. But the good news is I don’t believe you lost your MAID.
