I was browsing the “introduce yourself” thread, with all the fine people there, and saying to myself: “ehhh, where do all these people go after they write their wonderful introductions? I wish we could hear more from these people!”
So here we are, problem solved!
If you’re new, and you’ve read around a bit, and thought: goodness, where have I ended up at all - don’t worry! We all feel like that sometimes
Feel free to continue on here with whatever you started over there. Ideas for stuff you’d like to see on Autonomi, ideas you were dreaming up that you might like to try implement yourself, what drew you to a project like this, and so on.
Who’s going to break the ice? Think of it like “introduce yourself 2.0, with followup chat allowed”. I’m not new here but in case it helps:
I’m working on… very little of great relevance here, I’ve started a new job, moved countries, and haven’t had let’s say “creative space” since a while to really commit to a challenging project.
I’ve enough time regularly to do an hour reading or even little bits of programming, but not consistent and too spread all over. One of my jobs is teaching so I’ll often be looking at some new thing for and with students, but it won’t (usually) be related to Autonomi or decentralised networks or computing generally.
Ideas bubble away though here and there, and if this new job is steady, I’m dreaming of having some long days off soon with very little to do…
What impact Autonomi might have on education, what do you think? I’m involved in Exercism project, and I think Autonomi is a perfect platform for initiatives like that.
A massive impact, I hope. Think of all the unnecessary layers between someone with an idea, and setting that idea up for the public to see. “Cloud” infrastructure, databases, payments, hosting, DNS names, and… so many different parts, so many choices, so many costs, so many middlemen.
I don’t see Autonomi removing all of these, but removing a couple of them would already be massive.
How do you think Exercism in particular could be helped? [Red looks cool, btw!]
