MaidSafeCoin (MAID & eMAID) - Price & Trading topic (Part 2)

Or the local cats, which kill the birds

A good way to get rid of mice is to keep a clean floor, no food around for them.

Last time I had mice I caught one by hand and took him out to release him. Within seconds one of the local cats had him :man_facepalming: so maybe thatā€™s another reason he was in my house!

Good reflexes that mice are quick :ninja:

No, he trapped himself in the recycling box so I just had to tempt him into a jar!

Yep and keep any animal feed in harder containers instead of in sacks.

Cats are good mice deterrents. But they are wildlife maraudersā€¦
I tried adding bells to the collar of one of the most murderous cats. But the bugger kept managing to catch birds and squirrels.

(And at some point you feel sorry for the cat walking around all days with that jingle bells right behind the earsā€¦)

Also, they are not only murderous, they are cruel and often play with their victims for a long timeā€¦
Plenty of times Iā€™ve grabbed the neck of a cat so it would take a harder bite of its poor prey and have it killed.

Soā€¦ even though I love cats, and they do their job with miceā€¦ better solutions would be welcomedā€¦

Once I saw one of them play around with a squirrel.. (expand to read more),

Once I saw one of them play around with a squirrelā€¦ (expand to read more), and I was like ā€œaah for feck sake just kill itā€¦ā€, and walked over there. I didnā€™t get the cat to bite it to death, but he released it and went a meter away into the bush and sat there staring at me sullenly.

So the poor squirrel lay there panting and hardly moving, due to its injuries. I was looking to the sides for a stone to let it move on, and then the bugger cat rushed in and snatched the squirrel from under my nose. But as he did that, the squirrel curled up to bite the nearest thing it passed by as it swoshed through the air - and that was my thumb. Heck that hurt.

And soā€¦ the torture cat ran away with the squirrel and I had to try get a tetanus shot in the weekend.

(ā€¦which I never did btw, because none was available. They told me, if your face feels numb, then you hurry in!)

Lots of heart-warming stuff in hereā€¦

But I prefer to go with the science

Mods - can we move the relevant posts to a new topic ā€œTales from the Hedgerowsā€ please?

Rabbit stew is tasty though.

Agree. Cats are ruthless, sociopathic, serial killers. :sunglasses:

Unfortunately Iā€™ve come into a tough financial situation and have to liquidate some of my maidsafe :pensive:. Does anyone know if Iā€™m able to in US? If so, what exchange would I use?

I think using erc20 maid you can on uniswap

Changelly also works and seems to be the same price as SwapSpace. Unfortunately, the max amount of MAID has been decreasing and is now down to 4,000 at a time for both services. Probably due to volume on the one CEX they are going through.

Hi guys, When the network launches and when MAID are converted to SNT, will/should it be possible to buy and sell the SNT outside the safe network I.e. on a traditional crypto exchange or will SNT only exist (and therefore be bought and sold) within the safe network using the SN user interface?

SNT will exist in encrypted files called DBCs (Digital Bearer Certificates) which contain an amount and the owner. AFAIK, the owner can be unspecified, in which case anyone could spend the SNT, or the owner can be a group (multi-sig) or an individual key.

The file can be spent by the owner(s) sending a signed transaction to re-issue some or all the SNT as a new DBC (or multiple DBCs) with a new owner (or multiple owners). That requires sending the transaction to the network for verification and re-issue which causes the old DBC to be added to the ā€œspent bookā€ and the new DBC(s) to be issued.

Thereā€™s no reason why centralised exchanges, decentralised smart contracts, or anyone else could not do this on your behalf as with any other cryptocurrency right now, but with all the risks they involve.

So yes SNT could be traded off network based on promises just like anything else, but actual ownership can only be transferred by sending the relevant signed transaction to the network.

At least thatā€™s my understanding, which may be wrong! :man_shrugging:t2:

Thanks @happybeing , I Think itā€™d be really helpful to eventually see a series of user journeys, end-to-end, for a transaction that exchanges SNT for something else to understand the feasible/possible hand-offs between the network and non-network.

crypto exchanges now connect to many networks/blockchains that have their own software package to do transfers. BTC uses its Node s/w and transaction submitting, ERC20 uses etherium and so on

For SNT the exchange would simply run a client software to do transactions. Not even a node or anything.

Crypto exchanges only connect to the various networks/blockchains to receive and send transactions. For trading (and exchange account balances) uses their own internal bookkeeping/trading balances systems

Thatā€™s true, and thereā€™s no reason you or anybody canā€™t construct those now based on the explanation Iā€™ve given (which appears confirmed by dirvineā€™s like). One way to improve your understanding would be to have a go at that and request feedback if thereā€™s anything youā€™re not sure about.

Thatā€™s a nice idea. If there was wider utility in me doing that beyond improving my own understanding I would see if I could carve out some time. :grinning:

Iā€™m sure others would find it useful, just as your question and my answer are now there for people to find.
