Nice vid. I don’t like the idea of “selecting for purpose” though - as that rather implies that there is a selector - and while that is true for humans picking out a mug for their coffee, it’s not general enough to apply to old rocks that have survived weathering.
The evolutionary concept is “Natural selection”, which works generally too and implies that the functional information carried in matter, is simply what survives the movement of the arrow of time.
So if people choose 
over bitcoin, then the functional information of is what survives and the function information of bitcoins erodes away over time.
