Initially there was a coin, The UK patent office was adamant we could not use such technology.
We switched to “certificates” or tokens. So farmers earned certificates of space and they could use these to “pay” for space on the network
Bitcoin happened and we reintroduced the token, but focussed on decentralised data structure
We had a few implementations of the token, some of these were centralised data structures (totally ordered etc.)
We moved to a transactional baed data type which allowed true decentralisation
A DAG was introduced to allow audit back to genesis
(I don’t like the DAG, but we made it client side, so not to bad, but I Still don’t like it)
We have a solution that’s now totally decentralised (transaction data type, as is one of the 4 fundamental data types) ability to have a digital currency
With the transitional data types and client side randomised parent checks, we have a secure and highly concurrent (billions of TPS) digital currency option.
To launch w are using an erc20 type to get on the market and allow payouts and FIAT on/off ramps
However, the network will have a transaction data type that can seed many many currencies. As these develop eco systems then I believe we will get to a real digital currency, i.e. no history, cash like transfer of goods and services.
The last point is a huge area and huge regulations and whatnot. It’s a huge issue, politically etc. It’s a huge opportunity, well beyond just data protection.
So we are launching the data protection / privacy / security and freedom etc. but giving the opportunity for folks to spark off many ideas on true digital currency (at least true IMO)
Where do you get this idea that you can’t fork out the coin and royalty?
Just fork the code and change it to no royalty or coin. What would stop you doing that?
Are you thinking of royalty as in legally enforceable payment for the use of property rights? If so, I’m pretty sure that’s not what is meant by royalty in this context.
no one ever complains about my counting
im ma spilin is naa good enogh i sugest you check your southern privlige and take pty on a true scotsmn from the highlands and islands
Normally mention of digital currency causes me to numb out mainly because I think only BT and the crypto-ized fiats will be allowed because they carry the ledger and I am ok with that. I mean people will barter if cash goes. But the idea of true digital cash paired to something with the SAFE envisioned protections raises the prospect of the SLUR project which aimed to anonymously crowd fund the mining of corruption. In the age of AI breaking locks and AI conflation of material it may be less compelling and of course it could ironically cost us privacy and hence exercise of voice and hence loss of rights to atrophy, still the prospect of Snowden * Assange * Panama Papers * 10,000 is thrilling!!! And almost every state would be against it full force, but undermining the corrupting power of money and blackmail is likely worth the resistance. But the claim would be it was just an improved dark web or Silk Road or murder - harvesting- trafficking- terror net. Maybe but imagine stripping the cloak away from every dirty action from state and private actors, imagine ending outright state secrecy! Every state would be in fear of being eaten by its own citizens and states in fear of their citizens in a responsive way is going in the right direction. Its a start but the dissuasive power of expected sunlight into every crack would be massive, but what of doxing and what of the privacy illusory or not that we need just to feel whole? Suddenly everyone would be liable to become a public person the worst way. And yet the Zuckerbergs were slow boiling us on that anyway.
i had a pet seagull when i was a kid up in the islands we don’t have these decadent southern things like gerbils or hamsters your pet is what you can catch lol
Dats nuttin’ - I had a pet lamb. <— when I stayed in Skye.
My pal Lachie had about 50 sheep and one spring he got a couple of orphans that we fed with baby bottles - anyhow one survived and thought I was its mum.
A contract called and Im back in Glasgow. 4-5 months later I go back up to Skye. Im walking up to Lachies croft when Im knocked off my feet by this random sheep appearing out of nowhere. It had grown a bit since being bottle fed but it hadn’t forgotten its “mum” I landed on my arse and got nuzzled by an affectionate sheep.
ususally its the other way round in these parts,
