Is it ( antnode ) working correctly?

I see both your points but 50 nodes added to the network is still better than 1. Yes, once you get up to a large number of nodes on one machine - like 1,000 - you have to start thinking about the effect of 1 machine going offline. And that is the root of many issues in the last few months. But there are dozens of nodes leaving and joining per minute anyway. Run as many as you can get away with on your computer as you can and you’ll be doing the network a favour. And you’ll earn something.

Yes, 50 nodes on one machine is better overall for the network than just one. Its to do with the other nodes out there, like the people running 1000 nodes on one machine.

50 nodes on one machine, and 100 people doing this is much better for the network than those 100 people running 1 node each. Better for data loss and 50 nodes going off line at once will not really be noticed by the network in terms of security or resilience. And people running 50 nodes and not one will help protect the network if the 1000 node machine drops offline than those people running 1.

But in the scheme of things it is up to the person to decide what they want to do (1 or 10 or 100 or ??? nodes), and except for the ones running 1000 nodes or more, will have a greater positive effect on the network than not.

Sure, but what about 2 people running 50 nodes vs 100 people running 1 node. The later is clearly safer. And possibly more likely to occur - unless running 50 nodes is made the default or incentivized by emissions. Since emissions are going , nodes will reduce , is that going to weaken the network? I don’t think so and clearly autonomi team doesn’t either. More nodes on single machine only makes sense when there is a shortage of resources on the network to meet demand and others also increases their number of nodes by the same amount, but that is supposed to not be required as the price of ANT motivates new users to join. I think its more complex than you make out because number of computers and number of nodes are entirely different things with different implications for data permanence, and it seems autonomi have finally worked this out by getting rid of emissions. In an ideal world every PC/IP would have the same number of nodes (doesnt matter if its 1 or 1 million) but they need to be matched.

If it was ONLY 2 people vs 100 then you’d be right. But that is thinking in a cage. Better the 100 people run 50 nodes and not 1
