Heads up! Beta Rewards are on the way! Time to get prepared!

So you are not using --home-network flag for the nodes

I am running 3 nodes with --home-network (no NAT port forwarding + No static outbound ports), and 3 nodes without --home-network (NAT port forwarding + static outbound ports + Hairpin issue resolved). More details on the differences in the punchnet testnet OP.

I see day and night differences here depending on relays and not depending on relays… (at least for my environment) so until the situation changes, I plan to stick without --home-network when the beta program starts with real rewards being accumulated.

For those with starlink, port forwarding is not possible and so --home-network allows nodes to work without going vpn route.

My ISP though allows port forwarding so I might get into that later. I plan to have one SBC on starlink and one on the ISP. A SBC will max out my upload speeds so I don’t have the opportunities for home nodes like those with >50Mbps uplink speeds

nitpick: the confusion is caused by Maidsafe representatives choosing to announce on Discord only and then posting a reference to it here after the fact without any clear instruction for signup.

At this point, wave1 has already been closed and there are still no signup instructions for non-discord users.

If that is what MaidSafe intends, so be it. I’m just calling it out.

I have never communicated with you directly or indirectly. However, you have been a member of this forum since 2019 (clicking your profile)… so clearly you have been following the project on and off or even very actively over many years…

There were some of us who have never joined a public Discord server ever (like myself), but I did join it because I wanted to stay up to date and hear the announcements from the team itself…

Would I have stopped following them because I had a hard stand to not sign up on Discord?

My answer is no, because I still value their mission objective and the platform they are building hasn’t changed, simply because they choose to use Discord as one of their primary means of communication…

Would I be upset that they didn’t in a timely manner disclose the links mentioned in Discord in the forum itself (if that’s true, yes), however, would that make me abruptly stop following them? The answer is no.

While others might disagree… (everyone is entitled to their viewpoint), including myself on fully agreeing on the primary platform they choose to have their announcement… they ultimately had to pick 1 or more to begin this journey…

Anyhow, I hope you continue to be part of the community regardless of this very single decision or action that doesn’t align with you, but if not, it is what it is.

Cheers - stay positive!

In actual fact, you may not need to do that at all, and you might get to keep the tokens.

We have a sneaky plan, and a DAG, so we’ll see what comes together!

Still need it for launch. It seems silly that a wallet address cannot be given to the node to use. Also saves having to handle multiple wallets when running nodes. Just give them all the one wallet (say your normal wallet) and see it fill up from all the nodes you’re running and then use for uploading or whatever

Yeah cool, we get it. It’s on the list

@JimCollinson Please can you respond to those above asking how to sign up and if it will only be via Discord.

Maybe a short “How to sign up for beta rewards” topic pinned to the front page would help.

I also think it would have been fairer to offer the first testers places earlier on this forum instead of discord.
It is here, where the people who have been on the different testnet for years, are. And where they have been discussing and working on it.
On Discord I didn’t see anything about that…

not sure we need a singled wallet … but we need to be able to collect to a singled wallet at some point …

My meaning was to be able to, and that ability is what is absolutely needed, not imposed but optional. And that is for launch, and Jim made it clear its doubtful it will be implemented too early

It sucks that folk like @danda missed this.
Really though as this is a community run forum we could have done better at promoting it here ourselves.

There was a short while that things got a bit distorted between here and discord, I feel we are getting better at it now.

At least I hope so, I am not paying too much attention there either.

Sorry to be the dumb dumb to ask, because clearly at least 175 people have worked it out, but how does one get into one of these waves?

It was in the Discord server:

As @Dimitar showed, you’ll have to keep an eye on the news channel on discord, and hopefully someone here will post the news in Bux-n-Jim-Announcements Thread. Wooo What Was That you said ;) topic on this forum

Which means <1k nodes per 1gig uplink. Any higher and will start to risk being unreliable node. :expressionless: Trying to max nodes and have quality nodes. More planning now.

I am currently seeing less than 1Mbps for 10 nodes. Typically bouncing above and below 500Kbps for the 10 for each up and down

I think 175 should be taken with a grain of salt.
If the majority of those who signed up were discord users. That many may not participate.

The vast majority of folk who are going to take this seriously are here in this thread.

Is this network a representation of a more widely used network though. I think we should be more conservative in what will be required when it sees actual use from folk outside.

I have been wanting to call my isp and say screw it do the 5 gig instead but right now cpu is my bottleneck. Long before bandwidth.
