Heads up! Beta Rewards are on the way! Time to get prepared!

There are people in Bulgaria who are more OG than some of the people in wave 1, I am ready to share my part of the reward with them.

Point remains, it is limited to 175 for a reason.
Just ask to have the limit removed and that solves the issue then.

I’m sure they are more O, but if they cannot run a node themselves, I’d question the level of G.

I personally think along the lines, that having other people running a node with your Discord handle is a bit questionable practice. I think it’s against the spirit and idea of the program. Then again, working to maximize the gains of yourself and your friends nevermind things like ā€œspiritā€, is something that is kind of expected to happen, when we put anonymous people competing against each other. Thus I guess I don’t mind if folks do it to the degree they can within current setup. But I don’t see a reason to make it any easier.

Maybe if some of them have shares in MaidSafe they are still OG even without technical knowledge?

Then they have a way to get returns by their shares.

There are many folks left behind from the 175, some of them have been participating for years. I don’t see having shares a reason to get in the 175.

On the other hand, I do understand the motivation to bypass the Discord step. It feels a hassle for me to, when I recruit folk.

They should have entered at the correct time like anyone else. I agree with @Toivo. Creating loopholes now is just silly.

Definitely if it’s more work for the team aswell.

Idk man bowing out of the conversion. To me it is pretty simple follow the rules or don’t participate. Encouraging every user that didn’t make it in to private message the adim of this forum is ridiculous.

I thought that was the spirit of the program, to get as many nodes and as many participants as possible, I will be managing any nodes on my discord id and telling people to add their own id if I am not controlling their nodes for them.

Yeah I agree I already have had someone approach me to join on my node count and I refused.

I note that an admin can be anyone - this does not give you more rights than others, only responsibilities to take care for the good of the community.

Like I said maybe I can add other people, I’ll wait for @JimCollinson to say if there is a downside - I only see pluses - those 500k tokens from the first wave will be distributed to more people and the chance of some of it being used to upload data increases…

Or just add them to wave 2. I might sound like a hypocrite here but like I said earlier I will be controlling any nodes I add in wave 1 and would definitely not ask people to PM me to add nodes.

But you do realise the suggested idea/concept was: more people, more waved, more reward per wave… If from now on everyone joins through Dimitar he’s the one and only largest farmer and splits rewards as he thinks is fair and we never get another wave started… And the less people join ā€˜hidden’ the larger the benefit for all…

Edit/ps:… I was about to ask my parents to make a discord account and join wave 2… And here comes Dimitar inviting them to join through him to be in #1…

We are talking about wave 1, for the second wave they can swap with their discord ID so more people.

If you’re in wave 1 then this would reduce your final rewards since wave 1 operators will receive a greater amount compared to wave 2 or 3. Those multipliers you know.

But then there is also being higher up in the ladder too and receive a greater share of the pool too.

This would only help if we cannot get enough for the 10,000. But with the number wanting in on wave 1 and @Dimitar with a hundred or more and others with their 20’s and 30’s to bring in, I’d say wave 2 will have enough waiting to join before Jim is taking discord IDs

I was thinking on this after wrangling with Jim for an additional few lines of code. It will effectively reduce the rankings of other people in the first wave because your ID will rise much faster than others in the first wave. It skews the figures.

Its unfortunate that they being OGs missed out on the first wave, but so did other OGs in the forum because they missed the announcement to sign up. I am sure that if they get on discord (even if its to just have a discord ID) and respond to the announcement of wave2 signup then they can participate in wave 2. You can help them if language is a barrier.

There obviously is not going to be a win-win for everyone and someone/people will have to take the loss in the beta rewards program. But I am confident that wave 2 people will be well rewarded too, just not quite as much as wave 1.

And as others have said the number 175 for participants in wave 1 was picked for a reason, and I’d say Jim has to be able to report to the auditors/accountants checking the books that there was only 175 people receiving rewards for wave 1 as per the conditions set out in the announcement of the beta rewards program

That is why there is a wave 2 and 3

Yes, it disadvantages the other OGs and their chance of a leaderboard with only 175 people on it. If you bring in 100 other people then its 275 people and your account is 101 as one person. It will skew the figures even if they only do a small amount.

I know its not fair and if it was up to me there wouldn’t be waves as such, but there has to be a system and not just random things.

Wave 1 never stops as I understood it…

There is another problem I can think of - For wave 2 and 3 if someone register with 100-200 discord ids and run 1 node from each to count towards the reward - it will reduce the competition for the total prize pool. Maybe someone did it for wave 1 too?

But they shoot themselves in the foot too, since overall they will receive less rewards too

The higher in the leaderboard you are the greater share of the pool you’ll get.

Wave 2 just starts a couple of weeks later… With your invitation to make people join the rewards program through you you’ll reduce the share of people like Josh/shu/me/neik/anybody who’s testing with infrastructure capable running a couple hundred or thousand nodes who do invest now hundreds and thousands of dollars for absolutely unpredictable rewards and make that investment even more questionable… And that was not the ideas of waves… And I hope maidsafe doesn’t join in sabotaging that concept @jimcollinson … If you trust those people enough (my parents) you can just ask them how many nodes they run and give them the corresponding share… Making sub-suscriptions for late-comers part of the concept looks very wrong to me…

Well. If the reward structure isn’t final yet (which I don’t think it is), I think making the rewards less top heavy at least makes it less interesting for people to share their rewards with others vs actually participating themself. Even though I personally feel having people join wave 1 through someone else isn’t ideal, how great is it that people are actually rushing to get into the beta and getting others involved. isn’t that exciting?
