Congratulations!
Exciting!

Hey all! I just wanted to let you know that we will be running a Twitter Spaces Event on Wednesday 19 February at 18:00 GMT where we will be chatting to new followers as we peel back the layers of Autonomi to explain what an autonomous network is, and why it’s so different to the web we’ve become accustomed to. For more info and the link to joining:

  1. Do we actually have a functioning SAFE client somewhere or does one still need to be built?
  2. I notice all this code is licensed under MIT and Apache. Does that mean derivative projects can’t be done under the GPL 3.0? Maybe I’m just not keeping up on how licensing works but it just seems this might be an important point given the scope of how such apis could affect an internet 3.0 (or is it 4.0 now?) project like SAFE.
  3. I’m kind of thinking of starting a couple AI projects for SAFE and was thinking of having them under the GPL 3.0. So yeah I’ve been waiting for things to launch, clients to be released, APIs to become available, tutorials to be written, all that good stuff.

Anyway WOOT the SAFE network lauched by the time my birthday rolled around. I still don’t know how to actually use it yet in a practical sense but apparently its up. So yeah that’s exciting. When do we get to upload stuff and make websites and what not? Is that a thing yet?

I’m just wondering how this would affect follow up projects. So if someone wants to create an app using the SAFE API are they obligated to use Apache or MIT?

On Github?

I love this.

If you want to be satoshi dont sell 10% supply or heavily just hold your wallet for some years

Access to Autonomi continues to expand
$ANT Listing on MEXC Tomorrow at 11AM UTC - this is another hugely exciting development as more and more people are getting to know what our network is all about and where everyone can play their part. https://mexc.com/en-GB/exchange/ANT_USDT

First of all: Congratulations!

Not so fast yet. This is just the beginning.
Now the real hard work will probably start.

I follow and support this project for some 10 years now.
But I’m a noob.
All people here are so milesdeep in this project that they seem to miss how the public is going to be able to use this.
I understand the size of 32Gb will be downscaled if enough bigger servers are connected.
Node launchpads should exist on mobile devices too. I understand how crappy it is to work with android and ios but serious, this will be the idea anyway. And loads of new devices easily run 32 Gb and are 24/7 available. It will open up the network as intended. Apps apps apps. Developers, Developers, Developers, hahaha

Would life streaming things and calling be possible perhaps?

A big YES to all of that. We have effectively done live streaming before, years ago, and phone calls should likewise be doable. Messaging will possibly be based on https://simplex.chat/ - it looks a good match for our needs. Lets not reinvent too many wheels.

Yes! Excellent.
Then humanity will adopt and adapt to the network as soon as calling and messaging from phones is possible. Not sooner.
Unless you want a network with servers and bussiness data.

Hurry hurry, we are in the big race

A belated but sincere, heartfelt congratulations to @dirvine and the team on reaching their (and our) long-awaited go-live! I only checked back today after a couple of months and felt genuine joy upon learning the big news. Now I need to study, run some nodes, and figure out whether, how, and when to swap my ERC-20 eMAID—each an enjoyable task. Accumulating has never felt this good in all my crypto time! Ahh, my beloved project is now HERE!

Hey everyone, late to the announcement. But I joined this community in 2016 and have been waiting for a long time! I just wanted to say congrats on the launch. Wow, a lot has happened in the past decade. The launch is a testament to a sticking with a durable vision that is still urgently relevant today. I think the rebranding is a good idea as well as the ANT token. I will plan on setting up a node soon. I’m sure I will have more questions as I dig deeper.
Cheers

The Apache/MIT licenses do not require that your app also be open source. It’s very common for proprietary apps to use libraries with these “permissive” liceneses. In fact, they were created to make it easier for proprietary code to use open source code.

Seems Autonomi is released under GPL3 license though.

in the past they had a linking exception which would allow usage of their libs and linking with their code without restrictions. not sure that’s still how it is

Gotcha. I found a long thread on the licensing topic from 2014. Well, if it worked for Linux…

You mean this one? I’ll check this, thanks.
