Are people getting rewarded for using their attos to upload or not?
If so, is this a bonus on top of the reward for owning those attos in the first place?
Also, if so what is the calculation given a given pool allocation for the period of rewards?
As others, I’m sure it was stated that folks who used attos to upload were going to be rewarded for that.
My address isn’t there either and I’ve run nodes which earned in every stage of beta and post beta but have not appeared in either of the last two leader boards 
(EDIT: actually I think it’s two out of the last three I don’t appear in).
EDIT: I was mistaken and I am there, so just one of the last three leaderboards I didn’t appear in. Thanks to Rusty for spotting my error.
Are you asking specifically about Phase 2 of Beta or something else?

Should I save my earnings and better not waste them on uploads or api testing because that will equate to real money burned…?
No, there aren’t rewards for this phase for uploading data, just the same as the other phases of beta. I’m not sure where this confusion arose from, as we’ve not announced that… but there has been a gazzillion threads of speculation, so I don’t blame you!
But just for clarity — my answer here is about phase 2 of beta.

Thanks for the answer. The confusion is from someone from Autonomi saying that uploads would be rewarded as well, so it wasn’t speculation. I think people assumed that meant it was going to happen for the next tests. So yeah, it wasn’t in the announcement(s) but it was reasonable to expect that was happening - or so many wouldn’t have got that wrong.
I have DM’d Rusty the block explorer showing ANT earnings for that phase.
There are various things in the works, including a builder/developer program where we’ll be allocating funds to test, upload and onboard. But for the time being, right now, I’d hold on to them if it’s a concern to you. Or at least put some aside you want to use to play with.
Uploads won’t be an issue to worry about soon… but please don’t anyone take that as a signal that they can just fire in and upload and they will somehow be rewarded for doing so right now. It all needs to be buttoned down and not gameable… so when we are ready to announce, we will announce.

On the flipside it would also have sucked for all the people who didn’t hear that to be losing out now becuase they could have been rewarded twice.

I am often not clear on what is happening.
There are a lot of thoughts on whats happening from random posts accross 2 platforms that spread haphazardly into word of the year… misinformation.
Ok, yeah in retrospect, realising that now. Fair doos!
But we did update all the info on docs site etc. all reflected the phase 2… which was only a minor tweak from phase 1 in terms of rewards in terms of method of payment. So perhaps we took for granted the potential for diverging understanding.
=D yeah - it’s not like spending some attos (of anything I could imagine 
) should be an issue… But when we get into the region of full token (or as some hoped attos might get a better conversion rate at some point…) this ofc does make a difference to my previous understanding where maidsafe did track all the TXs they made and send the cumulated amount at TGE there again …

That the mysterious source who has hinted that rewards would be awarded for both running nodes earning [attos] as well as for uploading data using those [attos], was the same who gave use the true definition of “launch.” 
Because I could not find that statement about rewards, I will try to prove my sanity with this quote of April 2023 about “launch:”
