Worried about the "rebranding", anyone else?

I don’t think AutonomI looks good. People would wonder if it’s a lower-case l or an upper-case I. autonomi in lower looks more aesthetically pleasing.

Side-note, someone already has the autonomi handle on twitter…

Why should they wonder if it is a lowercase or uppercase letter? You can clearly see that it is a capital letter and there is no period.

The graphic itself can also be distinguished in this way “AutonomI.” Of course, graphically it would be more readable.

No Safe, no wave.

The new brand name needs a good tagline. How about this?

Autonomi, the safer network!”

Well… that was a massive ball drop…

Look at all the points I argued and what did going from one standard word ‘safe’ to another standard word ‘autonomy’ do?

if you do a web search for ‘safe’ you find other companies and scammers or whatever using the word…
and if you do a web search for ‘autonomi’…?

As to the pointlessness… I simply imagine we had been called autonomi from the start and now the rebrand was The Safe Network, I’m sure all the reactions wouldve been exactly the same.

Eh, good thing the point is the underlying technology and of coarse I’m not going anywhere because I know what the technology is supposed to do.

But to me this is a no brainer… The Safe Network was by far better than ‘autonomi’
That marketing better be stellar beyond belief is all I can really say now
Sorry to be the downer, but like I said… was completely uneccessary.

I think we all feel or have a feeling of that with Safe Network. It was even in a damn Disney film, what other project could say that?

But ultimately the project was what it was for so long that it perhaps has gotten a negative reputation for not shipping a product and why bring that baggage into launch? There’s an argument to be made the other way for sure but I think the fresh face comes with a brand new start and fresh eyes. So I think it will be as positive as we make it out to be.

The branding is honest and targets a main, defining feature of this network. Not that it is safe (though that is implied with the mention of quantum proof encryption) but that it is an autonomous network. The name also envokes the fact it can protect our own individual autonomy in the digital world. Something that has long been stripped.

I think it’s quite on the nose, in a good way. The nod to ants and the mention of stigmergy or bio mimicry as an inspiration for naturally emerging intelligence is also a compelling story to tell. One that could have been told either way but now seems more front and center with the logo and recent discussions.

I can see your point of view, I really can. But it is kinda what we make of it but besides that, for the reasons I’ve stated, I think it is a positive shift.

Weird side tangent.
The more I look at it, the less red the logo/name seems. I’ll capture the hex later to see it on a wheel just cause I’m curious just how red it is but it seems lighter, brighter, maybe pinker and more cheery than say, a hot rod red.

Autonomi. It’s starting to grow on me. In this case though, I would’ve preferred Antonomi (by far). Just turn the ‘u’ a wee bit around …aaand done!

Logo/badge looks great. But I’m not a fan of the color palette of the website either. It looks a bit basic and off somehow. But either way, I’m still happy with the end result. Great job guys!

You can’t judge branding only by looking at the brandname and logo. All the brand assets, communication, the product, community and partners combined will form a brand that people know and trust in time.

autonomi had a lot more depth and possible angles to get the message across if you ask me.

Arguably you can say the same about simply keeping the name and doing all those things anway… if you have a product you are confident in and believe in, the name and some picture associated with it doesnt matter… case in point: “google”

Anyway like I said, I was never going anywhere because I believe in the code and what it’s supposed to do, the name and picture never mattered and never will if it works out the way its supposed to. But I’ll always say the rebranding was unnecessary.

Never mind that, look at the thousands of posters I have to put the new logo on - it will be endless fun :southside:

I’ve been through a rebranding myself as it is part of my job. I can say with certainty that along the way there is always going to be some resistance. It makes perfect sense that Maidsafe / the Safe network is in our hearts after such a long time. It’s only human to dislike changes at first. After all, there is a reason why most brands give the user time to switch back and forward to new versions before they force it on the user. Everyone goes through it at their own pace, and that’s fine. Personally I’m going through it quite fast this time. I can see the quality of the video production, which is already quite exciting when you realise there are probably more of these videos to come to reach a bigger audience. On top of that it has something to it that will instantly grab so many peoples attention. The world and the people in it need autonomy now more than ever. Bux (and the video) already revealed a little about the tone of voice as well: “Build, earn, store, create with Autonomi”. This will instantly intrigue and speak to so many, without too much need for explanation.

I think it’s only a matter of time that this new brand will grow on us all. And I cannot wait to see it get to live in the upcoming weeks. Well done to everyone involved in this rebranding!

Nothing against the rebranding, but there is already an ai company called https://www.autonomi.ai

Isn’t that confusing?

First impression…… don’t like it.

Not as punchy/ tech related/ future proof I had envisaged it would be and it simply doesn’t roll off the tongue and isn’t the easiest to say got someone with a speech issue…… you might think this is nonsense but is important in branding

Another key requirement of branding make sure you are unique in naming

Did no one do these checks?

Did the new CEO really think having other organisations with the same name is the way forward?

I had bigger hopes than what had transpired

That’s a bit narrow-minded. Apple is the largest company in the world. Did you really think the name Apple was invented right there on the spot? Let’s be honest. The product will make the name. This is a well thought out branding and the product will blow people’s minds. When we succeed in the goals this project has set for itself, there really is only one autonomi that matters, period.

Yeah, seems sub optimal. On the other hand Google search with “Safe Network” seems to give multiple different results too. :man_shrugging:

When Apple was created……did you know how many companies were named “Apple”???

Have a check!

My first impression: I like it. It is one word which is what i hoped for, it seems unique enough in the crypto world, and it is relevant to the network. My one concern is that it isn’t unique enough outside the crypto world, but I’m not sure how much that matters. I suppose the proof will be in the pudding with how well the word and new brand gets out there. I’m excited to see the development of the marketing and how others react to it. To me the most important thing is the that the network launches as expected… if it does, the name will seem to have little importance, but I understand for marketing it can be very important. If Bux can push the brand as she visions it and can get success as she has proven to have done before then I think the network will be in a very strong position.

Wild prediction: Top 5 project in the rankings. Not sure when, but eventually.
