Bumped into this today.
" Texas Senate passes Bitcoin strategic reserve bill"
The bill must be signed into law by the governor. It’s NOT bitcoin only, but for any strategic crypto asset. So hypothetically, token could be in there in the future!

BTW, Trump signed an EO creating a US strategic reserve a few days back (to be managed by the US Treasury) - however it will only include crypto that has been confiscated by the US government, and it will not be buying crypto, contrary to what many in the crypto community had hoped.
Portugal is also capital gains tax free if held for over 12 months like Germany, and always zero for crypto-to-crypto.
Also for Australia capital gains drops the tax to half if held over 12 months IE max 25%. That chart cannot account for all these things. If not held for 12 months then its taxed at income tax rates. So for some with up to 10K$ its nothing, then after its added to wages/income and the combined amount is taxed at the tiered rate.
Except for bitcoin where it will look at acquiring more, as long as it’s budget neutral and doesn’t affect the taxpayer
Really? I heard just the opposite. Will have to look into that some more.
Not completly true. They said they will not use tax payers money to buy Bitcoin. That doesn’t mean they can’t find many other ways to buy.
Bitcoin is the only “reserve”, the others are classed as a stockpile. To me it seems likely the biggest area they want to focus on after Bitcoin is USD stable coins, and they want those stable coins on networks run by US companies or very decentralised ones. Tether are one of the biggest buyers of US bonds… Trump and co want to push that trend and push USD dominace.
Some exchanges are starting to delist USD stables on Tron, which is not US based. I don’t think this is a coincidence.
Meanwhile…
This is more when than if IMO, so not something to wait and see about, but be ready for.
We’re already seeing the US government is willing to shut off services willy nilly to any country it wants to bully into giving it something it wants, so this isn’t about DEI or whatever.
It’s about being dependent on services controlled by a fickle bully.
Not just github, but anything controlled by a US business.
It’s kind of sad to see bitcoin co-opted like this. The decentralised money dream died long ago.
I suppose it does still fulfill the digital gold thing and popularity would inevitably bring more attention from governments.
I do miss the early days of mining bundles of 50 on a regular laptop though and feeling part of a movement.
Glad we have autonomi now though… fresh beginnings!
I feel the same about the early days of Autonomi, miss those days.
Feels like just last month.
How is it being co-opted?
It’s adoption. Its value is being recognised more widely.
Co-option to me would look like states / other organisations trying to control mining, nodes, and code direction to erode the core principles of Bitcoin. These people seem only to be talking about holding it… that doesn’t make it less decentralised in my view.
If Bitcoin were able to block states from owning it, it’d no longer be permissionless.
Even if every state held Bitcoin, but couldn’t control its monetary policy & code, it could still very much be decentralised money.
Early days sounded great, but they only existed because of a dream for the rubber to hit the road in an impactful way, and that is now starting to happen. I’m excited to see it get to this point

I wonder how many of these ‘inevitable’ things could be hosted on Autonomi?
I hope that in many places, ‘on-chain’ will be replaced with ‘on-Autonomi’, which is more suitable for decentralising many things than blockchains are
“What’s the worse thing about bitcoin?”
Jeff Booth - “Your enemies can use it, and as they use it it makes bitcoin better and stronger for you”
for those of you in the North …
That’s Count Rugan? from “The Princess Bride” during his torture session with the protagonist, the dread pirate Roberts (aka Wesley). Yes, I’ve seen it a few times.
