Post 18 — An Invitation to what comes next

It’s working for me. I’ll summarise.

Overall it’s an exciting change.

I think bringing in commercial / marketing focus to get some attention etc is needed given how close the tech is to working, and how important the network will be.

I also like setting up parallel team working on a key application for the network (AI stuff). The concept of launching with CLI and no end user applications scared me!

I have a little concern about the ‘October’ launch date ahead of Beta being completed with all required features. Hopefully it won’t lead to the tech team being pushed to deliver something they can’t in the given timeframe…

I guess there’s always options of launching ‘something’ in October, even if it’s limited in some way, with upgrades in the pipeline… give how well test nets are running, and the efforts for the upcoming beta, that shouldn’t be too much of a strech.

Very excited for:

  • Roadmap next week
  • Beta in March
  • Launch in October
  • Upcoming partnership announcements
  • First impression, the new CEO Bux seems great!

It was incredible, I didn’t understand anything, but I managed by reading the chat…. now to wait for the summary

First impression is Sarah seems perfect for job.

But I am going to rip the Band-Aid off… SEC investigation for unregistered security sales?

True, so no substance to that? If it was gala token it is not necessarily a big deal, idk info is scarce. Obviously its going to come up though.

Those sort of timings are always open to rescheduling

It was posted in a chat, introducing our new CEO Bux as CEO of GALA Music and Gala Film.

In short, we will miss these eternal discussions about development, launch, new concepts, etc. … After all, " “No, it is not the goal but the way there that matters, and the harder the way the more worth while the journey".

However, the deadlines are very tight, but this means that we are in for an absolute review of SafeNet.

Here’s a summary, with a little help from my friend Claude. He’s not always 100% reliable, so bear that in mind…

Dates (yes, really. How soon is now?)

  • A beta version of the network will launch next month.
  • The updated roadmap will be published next week.
  • The full network launch is planned for October.
  • There will be partnership announcements coming soon, but none will be announced until they are soild.

Team

  • Maidsafe has a new CEO Bux (Sarah Buxton) https://twitter.com/ForTheBux
  • she is very commercially oriented and was (still is?) CEO of Gala Music / Film.
  • Bux will help Jim with commercial arrangements and partnerships.
  • which will allow David to focus purely on the tech and the vision.
  • new team members are joining to work on the AI aspects.
  • the current engineering team will stay focused on delivering the core network.

Activities

  • Aside from the beta activity there will be a major public-facing launch marketing campaign later in the year.

AI focus

The Safe Network is well-placed to take advantage of the AI boom, particularly for personal AI models which, once trained, learn only from the user.

Personalised AI models can only be accessed by the owner, with data kept private.

  • letting users ask personal questions to their own AI assistant without sharing private data with corporations.
  • supporting different AI models while maintaining privacy and security.
  • providing a secure environment for future AI innovation eg robotics.
  • other use cases for Safe: storing private data, eg medical records, financial information, securely from any device through self-authentication.

Also, something Claude missed (bad Claude), opportunities for video/audio sharing without walled gardens like Spotify. Bux has that background, as do many on here, eg @Nigel.

So from no hype, no road map, no promises, wait and see forever… to :exploding_head: all at once???

I feel like my hair is on fire, and I’m running around looking for a bucket of water. Each point of your list is explosive; it’s been so many years of waiting.

Part of me says it’s not real. But I know it is, lol

No possibly fud. My bad if it is, but again it would come up at some point in time, hence Band-Aid. Get it over with.

This is where we had to get to. Working tech, then a roll out that was heavily managed and orchestrated and importantly led by a capable experienced person.

There will still be innovation, that will still be hard to timeline, but roll out of what we have and use cases we can make of it are very real and we should all expect them.

I liken it to space X or similar, we had to get a launch that did not break apart. Now we can schedule many launches and add to them as we go. Bux is the CEO for making that happen and we work very well together. It’s a new world for all of us here now and one we all deserve after all the iterations and design changes and back and forth. We can see it working, we can see the opportunity and all we need to do now is tie up loose ends and go!!!

There was defo some issues at Gala, but not Bux related. She left there for different reasons but for good reasons. The news was around co-founders arguing and one being a bit naughty AFAIK. Bux seems to have a following that is valuable to us and values her a lot. I think that says a lot, plus when you get to know her you can see how straight she shoots.

Good to check all corners of everything, but in this I am very satisfied and frankly grateful we managed to get her just at the right time. There was competition for Bux as she is sought after by some big names that you would all recognise. We did a good job of attracting her to this project and I am very positive she is the best fit we could hope for.

As I say though, glad folk can question everything

A wise man once said to me: “before you invest in a project, the most important thing to look for, is the quality of the team and its leader. Do they have integrity?”

I say yes! Like no other I have ever found so-fare.

The SafeNetwork will be a huge success, I have never doubted it once.

Congratulations :tada: on continuing to make decisions with integrity. Cheers
