As most folks can only get BTC via exchanges, as mining isn’t possible without specialist kit, governments can lock this down. Whether they can inflict sufficient damage or not is another questions.
Safe network on the other hand, should allow folks with common hardware to contribute in exchange for tokens. It will be interesting to see how this dynamic pans out.
Moreover, safe network can store bulk data. It can store its source code, its binaries and is not dependent on clear net sites for exchanges. Storing bulk data frees safe network from a dependency on clear net infrastructure and the mechanisms to shut it down.
Edit: In fact, being able to exchange crypto may ultimately depend on safe network, should governments squeeze clear net exchanges. Food for thought!
Decentralized exchanges on ethereum also run on common hardware (video cards) and are unstoppable. However, centralized exchanges are a ramp for fiat, so they are indispensable at this stage.
It’s about to get huge.
Just to say, this is why we need to test net. People need to see the technology working to take it seriously after all this time. Then it will start appearing on radars.
It looks like he took a shot when in actual fact he just rattled off a few names from the list of previous top 10 coins.
I don’t think it was neccesarily an intentional hit.
He never said MAID was a dead coin. He correctly stated that it is difficult to maintain a top 10 ranking, and quoted MAID off of SOMEONE ELSE’S list of formerly top 10 coins. He placed MAID in a category of coins that most people in crypto today don’t know what they are. Also true.
After few weeks Bitcoin bull race continue with new ATH $43 487.
With recent BTC pump, Binance is overloaded.Trying to see portfolio performance on Binance for 15 and got some 504 a 500 errors.
Elon played it well.
Look at Doge while I buy 1.5 billion dollars worth of bitcoin…
Oh and we will accept it as payment.
I don’t think he was doing it maliciously per se but the point was if you’re going to give this 20 min session on how to save the world and you’re going to talk about “dead zombie coins” you should probably check to see if those projects are actually dead first.
Looks like Bitcoin will be the first Martian currency.
Ha! Perhaps. Full nodes on Mars would just about be able to keep up, given the speed of light.
I wonder how Safe Network would do between planets in our solar system?
Being built on CRDT rather than blockchain? Ironically probably much better than Inter Planetary File System (IPFS).
Yes, our move to crdt and offline first ability really helps. Nodes though, perhaps not so much, but clients and client → client data we are all good.
Nodes on Mars? Now that would be a cool experiment!
I suppose we should concentrate on this planet first though…
I see what you did there
