I did not want to let this moment pass, so lets take a look at what happend the last 4 weeks:

  • Bitcoin dominance gained 6%
  • Maidsafe gained 45% in btc value

We’re heavily outperforming and altcoin season hasn’t even begun yet. I’m so excited about the road ahead

Very honorable. Reminds me of another historical figure that held his head high while acknowledging his unpopular ideas… Sockrates.

It was a hard battle, kind of like “Crouching Tiger Hidden Socks” or even “House of Flying Socks”

32c, the new floor… where socks belong when walking around at home. (Wonder what weirdos put socks on their ceiling.)

Looking at the maidsafecoin distribution on 2020-12-13.

There are 17,211 addresses with a total of 452,539,928 maidsafecoin.

https://www.omniexplorer.info/asset/3 says the total coins issued is 452,552,412 so it looks like 12,484 coins have been lost. My guess is exchanges allow withdrawing decimal amounts of coin, but these decimal amounts are rounded down on the blockchain so are lost. But that’s just a guess.

Looking at addresses with 10K+ coins in them, this accounts for 14.8% of all addresses (2544/17211) and 95.9% of all maidsafecoin (433960716/452539928).

It’s interesting to compare the number of safe network users across different sources:

  • all wallets: 17,211
  • large wallets: 2,544
  • all forum users: 6,488 (source)
  • active forum users last 30 days: 379

The raw wallet stats:

maidsafecoins,addresses,total coin
0,15,0
0-10,1710,7915
10-100,2595,136303
100-1000,5692,2569598
1000-10K,4655,15865396
10K-100K,2053,81018923

@mav I would suggest removing the exchange addresses when looking at distribution of the coins.

Reason being those addresses represent many people’s holding and instead of tens of millions in one account its a mass of smaller amounts.

So removing them from the distribution is perhaps the more accurate representation

Is MS price going up on its own or simply following btc’s rise?

Probably a bit of both. However, the fact that MAID is gaining against BTC would seem to suggest some of the price increase is independent of BTC’s price movements.

The difference when excluding exchange addresses is not significant. These are the addresses to exclude:

1DUb2YYbQA1jjaNYzVXLZ7ZioEhLXtbUru - 25,796,703 - Bittrx cold storage
1Po1oWkD2LmodfkBYiAktwh76vkF93LKnh - 10,762,473 - Poloniex cold storage
14quvdxXj7h4kcfhhuKX39wRc6X5sodkjM - 1,368,587 - Hitbtc cold storage
1K1wA1v9CwDY8LKjjHeDaUWCnfWBzuqLfg - 118,160 - Hitbtc hot storage

We could debate whether the Poloniex address represents a single entity or multiple ones, but I have excluded it in this case.

Looking at addresses with 10K+ coins in them, this accounts for 14.8% 14.8% of all addresses (2544/17211) (2540/17207) and 95.9% 95.5% of all maidsafecoin (433960716/452539928) (395914793/414494005).
