MaidSafeCoin (MAID & eMAID) - Price & Trading topic (Part 2)

“buy the rumors, sell the news”
wasn’t that the mantra?

I think you’ve got a good point Andy, the team seems hesitant to hype as they don’t want to dissapoint. If they truely had something revolutionary to show us this week they would be going all in. It seems to me they are more wanting slow and steady growth reflective of progress up until the product is ready. This is because long-term if you want to survive, you don’t want to be labelled as a shit coin that ripped people off during the 2021 crypto bubble, then when you come to actually release something of substance no one trusts the product. This would be hugely damaging.

Remember that Maid Safe is not a big holder of Maid Coins. There are probably several big instustusional holders out there that want to see the technology working before they mark up the price. They surely will make sure that their coin gets listings at the right time and start marketing and hype at the top of the cycle. So come back than  I prefere investing when no one is looking.

yes I see where you and other people are coming from on this. They don’t want to do what so many others are doing and just try to grab some of this cash that is flying all around right now. On the other hand many investors would be happy to get info about a movie that is “coming soon.” Just be clear it’s still in development so don’t rush in unless you are interested in projects that are at this point in their life. Speaking of which that’s really a thing to think about when pitching it. Are we selling to more risk averse old people or 18 year olds that won’t feel they can never recover if it doesn’t instantly work out?

It may also be that flying under the radar (less marketing now) may reduce the risk of someone ripping the network off later. There’s likely only one chance to go “all in” on marketing and be effective, and now is probably too early. Hopefully there is a contingency plan for what to do quickly if someone tries to do that, though.

To be honest, a lot of this smells like FUD from an opportunist who asked to be sold to pretending like he didn’t know why he resurfaced after a long absence. Amazing how a bit of fear-mongering can sour the atmosphere when we got a new exchange yesterday, will likely get a testnet in the next ~48hrs, people are already testing the code to launch live networks, & there’s more coming that can’t yet be discussed. Don’t get robbed, folks.

I don’t think they’re that silly to allow that to happen. It would be too much of a kick in the teeth to longterm investors. I think maidsafe will be open source up to a point but may very well withhold key pieces of the puzzle to prevent duplication. I’m not technically minded enough to know how that would work but maybe someone else can comment on how that would be doable. This is also another reason that the open source status still being in place makes me think the testnet is big but not ground breaking.

That’s a little assumptive. I truly did just drop by to see what’s going on and a new exchange and a new testnet are great things. Maybe bad timing to put forward things that are not 100% positive tone. But TBH I am not even on any exchange that has MAID, so it doesn’t really matter much to me if people are smashing the sell button or not.

These threads have some good info on what is going on for marketing:

Sotros has been putting a lot of effort into this lately and is doing a phenomenal job.

Lol. You may have MAID; you may not. You may be on Bittrex or HitBTC or P2PB2B or not. You could be sour about missing out on the opportunity to buy at lower prices or not. I have no idea what your intentions are. No accusations here. Just advising that people listen with caution and sleep with one eye open.

I don’t play poker, but every trader I know does.

I wasn’t calling the guy out but I agree that generally the mood got switched very quickly for not a lot of reason.

and I could also accuse others of trying to generate FOMO to sell higher but there is no gain in fighting each other like that. I simply was offering feedback and sorry I did not check only the “excellent” box. Here is some additional criticism, a survey where you only ask people from these forms is going to give very inaccurate results on peoples attitudes.

Which is why a lot of energy was spent to field the study outside of this forum.

Your reappearance is quite curious and quite convenient, you must admit. Your defensiveness is also worthy of note. Plenty of people offer critique here, but they usually have a consistent presence.

Things happening around the same time does not imply causation. If you have a real criticism of my arguments I am open to hearing them. If you just want to throw around unfounded accusations I am not.

I will say simply in fairness to andyypants he has taken flack from some in this forum (no one currently on this thread) for even being a trader. I won’t get into it, but I was surprised at some of the comments sent his way. He also did say before he left that he was stopping his MAID trading due to low volume.

lol ya well there’s lots of buy and HODL people here and I get sometimes we have different strategies and it’s easier to be nice to someone like yourself. I try to keep it an intelligent debate rather then a bully match though. Anyways now I am long term HODLing on MAID anyways so no need to hate lol.

To repeat myself:

Other than that, the team is investing in marketing (e.g. just got listed on an exchange) and community members—or as you call us: “slave labor”—are helping out with other marketing efforts. Product is a part of marketing, so technically the BGF is a massive advance to better reach developers. I’m not going to reiterate all of the other counterarguments others have raised to your points (and I suspect it would matter even if I did).

I have no problem with trading. I’ve often thought that the antagonistic attitude to trading that tends to rear its head on the forum is both unfounded and unfair. We need traders to provide liquidity. My point is simply that everyone has an agenda.

To that end, this isn’t personal, and I’m certainly not going to fight with you over it.

ok so in the best case you were just randomly advising people to listen with caution and I thought it was directed at me because of temporal proximity. But also it really did seem like that was specifically directed at my credibility individually.

And I think that’s great you and other people here are donating your effort to marketing. Likewise I think it’s great people have been developing apps and stuff before there was any fund for them. But I mean it’s a question of scale. People working for free simply do not have as much time to devote to something compared to if they are getting paid for it. If we just paid one person (maybe even you!) a good salary to do it, our message would have much more reach overnight and all I was trying to say is I would definitely buy on that news.

A number of people have “resurfaced” over the past 36 hours, so certainly not specific to you. Just blanket advice, which people can take or leave.

This is true. Maybe there’ll be a BGF for marketing. It can be frustrating to hear people complain about lack of marketing but no one wants to fund it. I can’t, so I do what I can.

lol ok well I swear I was just like lets see whats doing over here without even checking the price of MAID or anything. Probably alot of people saw their bags go up in value and got excited to come chat here based on that.

I think if we want someone to just fund it outa pocket they gotta be a whale. If I funded it, it would be hard to get to the point I broke even on that investment IMO since I don’t hold a massive amount of MAID. The other option is the maidsafe team is like wow OUR bags just went up and now to us the cost/benefit of in house marketing again makes sense to put something towards.
