I actually did some digging and the possibility for early present was announced on November 26th Dev Update, then on 3rd December Dev Update there were all these new releases concretizing the delivery somewhat. And it was minutes after that 3rd December Dev Update the price started to climb, reaching the peak about 2 hours after the Update.
So yeah, you surely have a point. Or two points. And a line between them.
