I understand what you are saying.
My own experience is that if a topic has 400 replies since I was there an hour or day ago, then am I wanting to go through the topic to see what all these good people put into the topic. Where is value in that, their free speech is not being heard.
Also a fast moving thread with a post a second occurring, are the people in the thread actually reading the previous post before replying.
Maybe think in terms of a group having a conversation and think back to the times where one or two were just jumping in talking as fast as they could after someone else talked or even over talking. How did that conversation end up going. Did you enjoy it.
At what point did it become spamming ones opinion?

I guess I am asking what value is a fast thread where people simply cannot keep up and are just responding too fast to be considering their thoughts to be actually expressing their thoughts well?
Its more about being heard then allowing rapid fire posts.
Also the 4 minutes (in the trial) is only on each person. Not the thread. Its not one person then 4 minutes then another in case you were not aware. Youtube live streams use it a lot in their side chat so that people can read what is being said and to give a chance for everyone to be heard.
The time can also be much lower, this was a trial and thank you for responding as its the only way we can find out these things beforehand.
