So, with the latest release, I don’t remember downloads happening twice.
And I’m having a rough time with uploads:
They don’t happen twice. The first fetch is for the datamap, which contains the addresses of the chunks to be downloaded. To be fair, that should be more clearly indicated on the output.
Yes but I think the proposal to allow 3 days rather than 24h (or less) was a good alternative.
If node operators don’t have incentive to upgrade, they usually won’t.
Yeah, I don’t think we can leave it completely open ended. Especially now. To properly gauge the situation here, we really need almost everyone to be upgraded.
If everyone upgrades and uploads/downloads settle, then great, but if that doesn’t happen, it also tells us we have something else to fix or change. It’s possible that there was some chaos introduced here by people switching en masse to the use of --relay
then switching that off. In general, relaying is very harmful for the network.
A short grace period of a couple of days seems a good way to incentivise updates but not annoy folk who are providing resources. At this stage of development it is important for the project not to have to wait too long for that, so I think people will understand.
My nodes are earning again
lol god put back my Agent mode
how much storage is in your os?
The root filesystem of the environment I’m running in has a capacity of about 63 GB, of which roughly 6 GB is used and 54 GB is free (around 10 % usage).
I got to go
hopefully somebody else plays
hmmmmm
The system reports about 9.9 GiB of RAM. Of that, around 521 MiB is currently in use, and 9.2 GiB is free (with a further ~378 MiB used for buffers/cache). There is no swap space configured.
Bad, bad, bad news
I knew it from Agent Zero that you can run OpenAI local, but was too optimistic about their online os…
Can the os run an installed app 24 7 365?
The environment I’m working in here, however, is a sandbox used for one‑off tasks. It doesn’t persist after our session ends and isn’t intended for hosting long‑running applications. So while we can install and execute software in this session, we can’t keep it running 24 × 7 × 365 from within this environment. For true continuous operation you’d need to install the application on your own machine or a server that remains up and connected.
With their 400 M mau they could easily run 400 M nodes if this os was running 24 × 7 × 365. But like when ChatGPT first appear without internet connection, they still needs some catching up to do. What would it be fun if this actually worked, in stead of humans the ai’s would be giving Maidsafe feedback about the Network, maybe even doing some pr
Smacking the internet across the face with 1 attos = cpu/dns/get/gpu/txs/put is doing the same as big tech is doing now to 6 figure jobs. The banks are now figuring out bitcoin their endgame, when big tech figure out the Network their endgame, they will just be eating everybody their lunch who still laser focus on fiat. What you should have figure out is how much compute power you want for yourself and how much you want to pay for that so that you can instead of getting caught on top of a

And now with ai companies getting in bed with govs, what will this generous Network be…
Btw not an personal attack on you @TylerAbeoJordan but if we hold on to fiat dreams, when we could create Startrek tech maybe we’re on the wrong ride. With ai the 1s and 0s can let us loose touch with reality… Let’s not loose our money, for their fiat and get played out like we have been for so many times. We are now the noderunners, but once big tech join the party the last thing you want to say is that you’ll pay whatever they want you to pay.
But then there will be competing Networks, if Maidsafe still thinks fiat is the primairy goal in stead of sucha big Network that fiat and hardware cannot contain it…
I just want an honest discussion – with definitions. I take no offense, unless someone does ad-hom attacks or makes threats on my life.
Fiat means by decree. If you don’t allow the market to determine prices and instead, by some means, centrally control the price – you are the one creating ‘fiat’.
Not really, what I did is create an atom (something that is stable and predictable to a certain degree) in the Autonomi universe.
The atom also encapsulate what my ai can do for me on the Network and makes it easier for my low iq to strike a balance with it’s intelligence and 24/7/365 omnipresence.
I’m dealing with an entity that can live thousands of years in simulation time, in real-time and is immortal and has my six sense but spread all across the globe embodied in all sort of formats.
For me it doesn’t matter if people want to spend ANT in stead of attos, I run nodes get a few attos. But when big tech come onboard it’s a whole different game.
Fiat economics means nothing now in the age of ai, when time and currency can be reduced to 1 digit. You no longer playing the old game and old currency. We can take a hundred years, like almost the 2 decades to make the Network, but when ai companies can compress a hundred years in a few months, we will be the loosers.
I work for currency, govs/institutions can just print it out of thin air and even make me pay more of it for my goods and services and all that without me getting a salary raise. If you don’t control the price on the Network it gets controlled through it’s users who chase the fiat . When somebody got an infinite amount of currency that they can use to devalue your token, the only option you got is to give value to what cpu/dns/get/gpu/txs/put costs on your Network. Stick to fiat if you want a small network, I rather have a Network that no amount of fiat or hardware can control, it’s a small bonus if I get a significant compute power with it. We all have our price, my ANT is NEVER (sorry that I scream) for sale for fiat that I say with absolute certainty.
currency is weaponized against us, high time that I weaponize my ANT…
All I can tell you is – keep learning, keep growing – I will as well. We are on different planes of thought on this ‘fiat’ point.
I do understand a small part of fiat when lambo/moon? list of obsolete currencies
But why ask that when David and co gave us a whole universe to explore?
Alphafold compressed a billion year of PHD time into months.
OpenAI can now even let their users pay for storage and farm with 400 M ANT nodes, if they just knew about it, probably do…
With trillion dollar companies automating everything, people loosing their jobs, I rather have ANT give useful compute power to humanity, because some kids will be so alienated from us with their ai’s that we can hardly catch up.
These ‘big tax/techs’ should just be small galaxies on the Network and never get a chance to keep dominating like they do now especially with gov assistance…
True I got a lot to learn good fr keep hacking and have a good day, thanks for the chat
P.s. well spotted hawk
