Insights of IF voting

Hi,

@Pioneer asked in Discord for an analysis of the voting so far.

In the topic you will find a list of all participating apps and their on-chain IDs, if you wants to do your own analysis.

Ant tokens from the votes go to this address (the Foundation) and by clicking on the corresponding transaction in the log you can see the app ID for which the vote was made: Transaction Details / [Logs (2) / 2: appId

The example is with a random address from the blockchain

In the canceled vote, 124085.2 ANT were spent, in the new vote - 70587.70 ANT have been spent on votes so far. Most of the apps in the top 12 have a few hundred votes difference.

The smaller amount of ANTs spent and the close results in the votes tell me that people do not want to bid against each other, but if there are any shifts in the next few days, they will probably have to bid on the last day if they want to protect their investment and not lose their money or if they want to keep the app they voted for in the top 12.

A total of 24 separate addresses voted, 171 transactions, or an average of 7 transactions per address. (This includes 1 address from which I made 34 transactions to extract the app IDs, so the votes without it are 137 transactions from 23 addresses or an average of 6 transactions per address)

Personally, if we were allowed to vote for our own apps, I would vote for Queeni and AntChain, but now I will vote for Colony and Autonomi Browser Extension. I note that I vote once - I will not bid, I do not gamble.

Here’s something interesting - we have a whale with 5 million ANTs actively voting. He just needs to be careful not to get more than half the votes, because Bux said that apps that violate the rules will be disqualified:

Currently, the whale holds 49% of the votes in one of the apps in the top 12.

If they stopped at 49%, it seems like they’re aware and maximising the opportunity, at least in the support of that app.

If they start trying to do it for too many projects it could get dangerous, as doing it for anything that has a chance of being relegated from the top 12 is a risk… but not doing it for anything that is likely to be in the top 12 could be seen as a missed opportunity.

Thanks for gathering the stats. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out!

by now I’m seeing 26 voting addresses with following % ANT of the total (close to 104k ANT atm) spent for their votes

So its 26 or fewer people voting by this time

I bet at least one person is using 2 (or more) addresses

If that’s the case, maybe the team will reconsider the ban on voting for our own apps. I promise to vote for only 1 of ours with @saykor :dragon:

=D does the 50% single voter limit then get removed too or divided by team members for those team members? =D

Or maybe we just don’t care and remove all those hard to enforce rules

Trying to make things fair is an impossible endeavour anyway

Or we just don’t enforce them and people figure out themselves what the rules really are. :joy:

I think it is strange that to support a trustless, autonomous network we are creating a process with lots of intricacies and rules and centralized planning.

Something doesn’t feel right about this.

I wish I had said something about this earlier but I don’t even know what to say now. :man_shrugging:

How do they know it’s you who is voting?

Nobody knows, its impossible to enforce.

Even if there is a effort to trace the source it simply allows the more educated/determined voters the upper hand.

Probably some of us have given our addresses to receive NFT

Of course I have other addresses where I mine with small amounts. Who would have thought that there would be such things… the whole scheme is super uncharacteristic of MaidSafe, I wonder who came up with it and whether he is satisfied with the hundreds of voters…

Many community members reacted strongly against the plans for voting, and the team said ‘we’re doing it anyway’, so it is what it is.

The voting mechanism may be something to forget ASAP, but the developments made by those working on each team will remain & hopefully provide a strong base for others to build on.

I expect Impossible Futures can still be a big success even if the voting system sucks

I’m sorry some of you didn’t like the voting system. But what I do know is everyone seems to be happy with all the cool projects building. Its truly your network now that you can build apps and programs. A lot of these will be very useful!

Absolutely. The competition is more about fun & participation than anything from the sounds of it, but the substance is in the projects & development work.

It’s an incredibly exciting time for the project with all of these builders working on fantastic, useful, and foundational stuff.

And, while I’m no fan of the voting, I’m a huge fan of what Autonomi has done with Impossible Futures overall, so great work!

To be fair I think it’s much better than I expected. The price of a vote going above 1 ANT means it’s keeping the whales from just bashing massive votes in.

All the projects I like the sounds of are doing okay so I’m overall pretty pleased with how it’s going

And we can see that by vote counts. They went 20k first time after few hours, and now it’s stuck under 15k for 3rd day.

True the incentive is not there for them.

Looking at it someone could easily turn 1k ANT in to 2k ANT but I see no way someone could turn 200k ANT into 400k ANT. Which I think is a good thing.

I know there is worry about all the share holders getting there ANT after all these years and some people are worried and think we need lots of ANT locked away.

Screw it give them all there ANT and if we have a blood bath so be it we have had them before and then it’s just done and we can move forward without it hanging over the maret.

My favorite thing is that there are fewer voters than devs.

Wonder if it’s going to pick up or if we are just going to flat line :joy:

If @neo is right that there are voters with more than 1 account, it should be raised. I hope we get past at least 100 unique addresses.

The blockchain shows that someone did my experiment today, voting for everyone to extract the IDs, hopefully they did a more in-depth analysis than mine.
