Voting FAQs

How much do votes cost?
A votes never costs more than 1 ANT. But the price depends on the current popularity of an app, and how it compares to others. An app with many votes will cost close to 1 ANT, while those with fewer votes will cost far less.

What’s in it for me?
If you vote for an app that gets through to the final 12, you’ll get 1 ANT for each vote you cast. You’ll be paid to your wallet after Impossible Futures concludes in August 2025. But, if you vote for a project that doesn’t go through to the final 12, then you don’t get anything back.

How do I buy a vote?
Click on the Buy Vote button on the App you want to support. You’ll then have to connect to your wallet. Enter the amount of votes you’d like to buy, and you’ll get an indication of the cost. The price is dynamic and can change even based on the amount you are buying.

Do I get my ANT back after voting ends?
No. Votes are purchased, so the funds aren’t locked up or returned. The cost per vote is variable though, and always 1 ANT or less. However, if you have voted for a project that makes it through to the final 12, you’ll get 1 ANT for each vote you cast for it. That will be paid to your wallet after Impossible Futures concludes on the 16th of August 2025.

What is the goal of the Impossible Futures voting system?
To capture real community interest in the projects and ideas submitted by builders in the Impossible Futures program.

How do projects qualify to be listed for voting?
All listed builders have completed a standard process — submitting key info and meeting deadlines — to ensure high-quality proposals for voters to consider.

What does it mean to cast a vote?
A vote is a show of support for a project or concept. It also gives you a chance to receive a reward if that project moves to Phase Two.

How are rewards paid out to voters?
If your vote goes to a project that moves into Phase Two, you’ll get 1 ANT for each vote you cast for it. That will be paid to your wallet after Impossible Futures concludes on the 16th of August 2025.

What counts as a “successful vote”?
A vote for a project that gets selected to move into Phase Two (max 12 projects) = successful.

Are there rules to prevent abuse of the system?
Yes. To keep things fair, no rewards will be paid for successful votes if:

  • You control over 50% of a project’s total votes
  • The project has very few unique voters
  • You are the builder of the project you voted for
  • Your voting shows exploitative or disingenuous on-chain behavior

When will I get my ANT for successful project votes?
You’ll get them after the Impossible Futures program concludes on the 16th of August 2025. They’ll be paid to the wallet you voted from. What happens to the ANT that isn’t paid back out (i.e. for a project that doesn’t go through to phase two? It is added into the rewards pool for phase two

Is there a league table of votes cast (sorry if I missed that!)?

I’m a bit confused about these rules. On one hand I’m happy to see Autonomi is doing everything they can to prevent fraudulent behavior and/or gaming of the system. However, the way these rules are described causes a lot of confusion and I think Autonomi is going to get themselves into some awkward decision making.

What happens with the cost of votes if you own more than 50% of the total votes? Are they being refunded? What if someone has only 5% of the total votes, but someone else has 55%. Will the 5% get the vote payout? Or does the entire project get moved out of the top 12?

What counts as very few unique voters? are we talking 5? 10? 100?

What happens when a builder votes for its own project? And how do we even know? Everyone can vote from a ton of different addresses, right?

And last but not least, what counts as exploitative voting? If 10 different addresses vote for a project that is out of the top 12, but enters the top 12 in the last minutes of voting. Is it genuine or is it seen as disingenuous?

Who’s judging? I would’ve loved to see a smart contract handle all this and rules are open for everyone. It seems now that this is up to a judgement call by Autonomi staff and/or foundation?

Don’t get me wrong, I still love the idea of making this voting system as fair as possible. But I see too many open ends which I would loved to see answered to avoid people upset in a week from now. Maybe tonights stages?

Try a different browser and I recommend using MM if you are not already

Turns out I just couldn’t find the proper Vote button on the mobile. Desktop worked.

Edit: It didn’t, either. Tried on Brave and Chrome.

Tried safari, and just tried chrome, both with MM, still same error unfortunately.

Side note, I got my autonomi swag I won around Christmas, thanks Rusty!

We need to get that legend to the next stage, he is one of the GOATs that has the ability to create magic for Autonomi. Vote for Ryyn! For those who don’t know, Oetyng has been a developer for Autonomi in the past, he has developed financial systems before that and was the first who built experimental database system to work with Safenetwork before it became Autonomi.
