Also, my understanding is that your data won’t be persistently cached locally … but if the future means small devices with massive storage capacity, maybe it should be?

Yep. I daresay that this is among Dawn’s plans for hardware using Maidsafe. Basic concept: Put far better antennas in devices than manufacturers normally do. Then, use two separate radios. It is possible to do two wi-fi networks with one radio, but tends to flail about and die frequently, or do other strange things, so we’ll spend the extra few bucks and simply use two separate radios.
