I have a decent computer (9800x3D, 5080, 20TBs, 64gbs of DDR5) and I was wondering how I could help out and is it possible to mine for this coin yet? I’ve been checking in and out of this project for years, but I want to start accumulating coins. I don’t have the money to just buy them outright, but I do have a fast computer and good internet.

Thats plenty spec - the limiting factor will be your router and bandwidth - depends what else you are running on that beast as well of course.
May I recommend Formicaio as an easy tool for beginners?
I run it using Docker but it works well in other modes if reports are to be believed.
Just shout if you have any problems.

Does it take a while to generate ANT tokens? Just wondering what I’m looking at if I setup this.
Ok I got Formicaio up and running. So now I need to add a node to begin mining? Does that allocate hard drive space?

It will start filling up the available free disk space. Unlike LaunchPad it will not automatically allocate the full theoretical 35GB per node.
Disk space requirements are growing but still a long way until we will need 35Gb per node.
If you can, allocate the ports yourself on your router.
How long it takes to start generating tokens is a lottery. The more nodes, the more tokens but its hardly linear unless you are running several hundreds or thousands of nodes.

At the current network size you will earn a little which you can use for uploading. The cost for upload gets higher the more the network fills but right now the network is filled at a low level. if you set it up then you will mostly right now help the network and get some tiny amount of ANT’s that you can use for uploads. If you want to get ANT’s as an investment then you have to buy at the moment until network fills to a higher level.
