ANT/Ethereum?

If it’s made completely redundant by Native, then I’d be happy to see ERC20 go.

But if it adds utility that isn’t offered by Native at the time, e.g. access to DEXs, Hardware wallet compatibility, peace of mind for long term storage, possibilities of integration with smart contracts (Defi etc), then I wouldn’t want to see a rush to get rid of it while it’s useful.

And worse you get divisions of nodes only accepting one or the other. Uploaders then need to keep bags of both just to upload files. Its a nightmare.

Basically we need what would amount to a new TGE event where the switch over occurs at a set time and bridges are in place prior to that.

To expect all nodes to accept both all the same instance is just as bad as the swap from one to the other at the same time. It may require two updates to achieve the swap over but the super well announced disruptions for the short time is better than the ongoing confusion that will occur with two tokens for payments and some nodes only accepting one or the other. I suspect most will choose one since it saves the node operator the effort of dealing with both. A divided network if you will.

The bridging of erc20 token for on/off boarding and native for payments/transfers is the best way forth since it stops confusion and uploaders getting stopped because of the need for 2 tokens just to get all chunks uploaded.

While we are using ERC20 token for paying for resources then the available audience is small, so the disruptions when changing from ERC20 to native for network payments will not be as bad as when the world has to have ERC20 anyhow for those nodes only accepting ERC20. Better to just have bridges to/from native for those few of the world using ERC20

EDIT: when I say audience is small, I am meaning in comparison to the audience that is the world’s population with internet of some sort.

That sounds good, as long as a transition to native all at once can happen smoothly without resetting the network.

If ERC20 is then still available for bridging, even if it’s not used for payments any more, it can be useful for storage / smart contracts / DEXs etc.

After native is added as an option, then we need our own internal exchange. Once we have that, then we don’t need CEX or other DEX. Just install :ant: go to the exchange and convert fiat or other crypto into native :ant: token. No listing or dependency on other apps or companies - real autonomi, real defi, real decentralization.
