It’s all a guessing game, but the sooner the better, we definitely need a big win.
I know for some price is not important, but some of us have invested very large sums.
Can be very nerve wrecking to see the price slowly go down. Here is hoping for a huge 2020.
I can’t vote because you forgot the most accurate option…
“when it is ready.”

“when it is ready.”
Don’t know if I can agree with this stance based on all the available options here, if Fleming is not ready by end of 2023(maybe sooner idk and don’t need to know) I see no circumstance in which any coordinated paid team will be working on the network. And I don’t think 1-2-3 folk freelancing it when they have the time or motivation as a side gig would cut it either, its just too big an effort to developed in free time of the few. So either a network gets made while funds are around or the project likely dies off incomplete. I am still betting on the former occurring and am hopeful the pieces will fall into place.
Don’t read in to it too literally. “When it is ready” could mean half way between Q4 2020 and Q1 2021. Plenty of open source projects take the stance of “the next version will be ready for release when it is ready for release and no sooner” so their communities are more productive and people stop bothering the devs about timelines. There are so many more important things to discuss with regards to SAFE and it seems like a lot of forum energy is wasted on impatience, conjecture and whining about release dates.
The world needs this network very soon. Freedom of speech on the internet is of critical importance and it is being eroded away.
Besides being fun, I think these surveys maybe help with expectations. It’s hard to complain that Fleming didn’t come out this week when 80% of the forum doesn’t expect it until after mid-year and 50% until at least the 4th quarter. Maybe those that are most distressed about schedule can then release themselves from their “never ending horror nightmare” and appreciate the progress and challenges overcome along the way.
The problem with all of this is that the consumer side and the developer side see it in two different lights. Consumers have been waiting for this project to release something of value for a long time and view it as an investment and utility. Developers operate as artists and while the ladder may be important, it’s not their main focus. The frustration and/or anticipation on both sides is warranted and palpable. I just wanted to repeat what I said a few months ago in another thread. It is very likely we will see another crypto up cycle in the next 12-24 months and if there is nothing ready, this project will be dead whether anyone likes it or not because the “when we are ready” line won’t fly anymore.
None of this is meant to be pessimistic but the reality of what will happen. I’m not a tech guy but regardless if the product that is being produced there is a window of oppurtunity and I’d hate see this project miss the window.
Another positive week with a step closer…just hope it gets delivers actually soon.
You are 100% true, and I absolutely agree with you! This story must have happy ending or…
Entirely disagree, the fact that there is a coin involved in this network does not make the project or future success of a working product dependent on cryptocurrency cycles.
It’s sort of unfortunate that the SAFE network for practical reasons has to involve a coin, especially since bitcoin happened to be invented around the same time. For many people the coin takes away focus from what the project is actually about, i.e. Secure Access to data For Everyone.
this is all about human nature. People don’t like:
-things that have taken excessive time
-the idea of a coin attached to it in which they have watched bitcoin go up, down and around with many projects being complete failure
-the fact that a very simple solution already exists all be it a centralized solution
And many other things. Those items can be combated during an uptrend of an entire market, even if MAID is very different from bitcoin but will be very hard for it to penetrate its own success in the wild. This is the investing side and while I respect your opinion, I feel your comments reflect perfectly as someone who thinks like an artist.
Maidsafe has never given a time when anything will be released since it missed it’s original estimates years ago. The assumptions are just that assumptions. So why get all concerned about it now. Did you not understand that this is a high high high risk play?
I even get concerned with people assuming a short timeframe from Baby Flemming to Maxwell. I recall what people were saying about the time span to Alpha 3 once Alpha 2 was released.
Just let the devs get on with it. If you can’t take the pressure just sell and move on.
You have vastly misinterpreted what I’m saying or minimally made assumptions about my risk tolerance. If MAID for some reason never succeeds (which I feel is unlikely) the amount I have speculated with means absolutely nothing. So as far as me losing it all or making millions has zero effect on my comments. I think it’s fair to analyze what reality is and on these threads we are constantly talking about tech and price. Neither of those actually matter independently of each other as a product usable in society. What really matters is the cohesion of those two in which a product runs and price discovery reveals itself.
I dont neccesarily disagree with that, I just dont feel the number of people who may be fatigued is all that great. Drop in the ocean really.
I agree with that and while I was referring to MAID specifically I could see there be a general crypto fatigue of sorts.
Based on the last dev update I think we can expect a “baby Fleming” soon. That said I don’t know how long til we see farming tested (and get the first real data on what the value of the coin might truly be!) They seem to be leaning towards a granular approach. Gradually release features and whenever you decide to you can say “hey look its a Fleming”
What’s your definition of “soon”. Is it the same as “close”?
Evolution of the human race has never relied on heartgoodness but protocols, otherwise corruption takes over! Either SAFE evolves taking into consideration GREED or forget about it all… nobody will work for the whole mankind without some revenue! It is just not fair you working for free while others profit from your efforts…!My opion, only, I could be wrong , though!
I agree. That’s what Safecoin is for.
That’s just not true and there are many, many examples that show it not to be. Linux is one that works for “the whole mankind”. Me chopping some wood for an old fisherman, or even acting as moderator here are others, albeit on a smaller scale.
