What to (still) expect from PDC in the future?

I suggest you mention them as they may only be notified if mentioned.

Hi @Seneca, @Bzee,

Any comments regarding

  1. How is the development of the Decorum project using Rust coming along?
  2. Did you thought of a Plan B for the Decorum project is to explore outside Safe Network (Cosmos, Near, Polkadot, …)?
  3. Is there a plan for a buy back PDC?

Hi Sam,

  1. Slowly but surely. We’re currently working on a Tauri/Svelte application, which should allow us to at least re-use the entire frontend in our future web-app when we have a SAFE browser again. What we’re currently working on should be considered a proof of concept again, since so much has changed (and quite a bit is still changing) in SAFE since our releases in the past. Once we’re satisfied that we have encountered and fully grasped all of the fundamental challenges to implementation of our core features, we’ll start working on a proper minimum viable product. We’ll likely share our proof of concept at that time, if it isn’t broken too quickly again by updates to SAFE.

  2. I’ve considered this in the past, but nothing I’ve seen so far beats the potential of SAFE. Most other networks need to sacrifice much decentralization for the required scalability for a social media platform. SAFE promises a unique mix of attributes and features that in my view are worth the wait.

  3. Perhaps. I’ve been advised to not make any commitments until there’s a definite yes or no, and a definite yes would only come when/if all legal and accounting consequences would be clear and acceptable, and everything would be ready for execution. It’s a complex and delicate matter, I hope you can understand the need for caution.

Hi @Seneca, @Bzee,
Do you have any updates on the Decorum project’s development? Thanks.

Hi @sam123,

I’m currently familiarizing myself with the new Autonomi datatypes (the old Register type has been removed recently) in the context of preparing our data structures. @bzee is still helping with development of Autonomi, which remains in the best interest of Project Decorum’s future for now.

So not much news to share yet, hopefully that will change in the coming months as Autonomi stabilizes and it starts making more sense for @bzee to allocate more of his time and expertise towards app development. That’s when I expect we’ll start making tangible progress!
