What if governments decided to order ISPs to block Maidsafe?

Hi all,

My first post! Been following for a long time and HUGE HUGE fan of the idea, philosophy, company, people and community!

In light of government tightening of encryption and various government spy programs (e.g. France and Germany Want EU to Ban End-to-End Encryption), what will MAID do if governments decided to order its ISPs to block access to the MAID network? Can they just shut off access that easily? I guess the question is how easy/hard is it for a government to block access?
I live in China where Youtube, twitter, facebook etc. is banned and no doubt China will ban MAID. I use a VPN to circumvent this (but it sucks as its slow and you constantly turn it on/off) - would a VPN solve this?

Thanks!
Cheers

Welcome to the forum .

It’s very hard. Because first you need to know what’s SAFE data and what’s not. The trick is to make the data look as just normal internet data. This can be done using obfuscation. They might block the ip-addresses of the bootstrap servers. But there are a lot of tricks around that.
