I think this serves as that, and is a solid document for those we’re asking to support the project industry wise (whether exchanges, influencers, partners, node runners or indeed people looking at the token in market - I won’t mention that last group again but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist and that our node operators won’t benefit from their enthusiasm).
The WP has to walk the line - it isn’t technical enough for developers (I am limited in my ability to write such things of course), but we have documentation being updated to deliver that deeper dive (Gitbook), we also have a lot of tidying up to do and work being done re: API documentation and SDKs.
As mentioned yesterday, I’m less concerned about the ability for Autonomi to meet early data storage demands (based on it having had willing participates so far and that there are incentives enough for them to be covered in the early stages), the focus for me is on what the developer experience is like, and to ensure that there are some applications available on Autonomi asap, so that we can start to stretch its legs a little in the real world.
For retail users (some like me), as I mentioned to Neo, I think the entry point is likely applications with a unique offer and great UX that is yet to exist - my hypothesis (bet - think DIBB framework) is that the next wave of node operators will be working in technology, more likely already involved with nodes and/or the burgeoning web3/decentralised world. They are easier to target - and will need/want the content in the WP to compare Autonomi with other ‘similar’ (but really not) projects out there.
You should really stop selling yourself short, Bux. I think we all know your influence is absolutely massive. It may result in cutting some corners, and maybe people will have to deal with the fact that launch is not what they hoped launch would be. But let’s be realistic, we’re fucking launching! That’s you.
And I really do hope that the team can see that I’m not underestimating their effort, but merely giving you the credits you deserve. Would it be possible we’d launch with a product that would better fit this communities wants and needs? maybe. Would it be possible that would be after the year 2030 or maybe not at all? Likely. Again, we’re fucking launching! Hats off to you
You’ve progressed a long way since you became CEO. You also know the difference between chunk and chuck now. And at least you don’t chuck me out of the room now when I say chunk.
Ha, you’re lovely - and while we’re currently doing some ‘racing lines’, we will get to all the corners
The dev guys are going to need help from you all for sure, but if your support through all this time is any indication of the future, I’ve a feeling thats going to work just fine
Ha, with some screen sharing and a very patient Anselme and Mick, who were armed with some clear and specific instructions, I’ve even managed to run a script … #BuxtonKnowYourLimits
I even told John McAfee in the same physical room that indeed virus’ can be written in WordPerfect scripting (macros) and he claimed NOPE they cannot. No way to convince him. Then a year or so later the new wave of virus’ were in macros. LOL he was not very forward thinking technically. That was in 1990
I’m not so sure. That sounds like what the few initial users of the nascent World Wide Web and the companies and organisations involved in it thought in about 1991. Then 2 or 3 years later - boom!
I think back then if people had been told not just, ‘here is a cool new thing you can use for free’ but instead ‘here is a cool new thing you can use for free but also here is a bit of software that will use some unused drive space and processing on your computer to contribute to this system instead of it being centralised, gatekept, censored, paywalled, monitored and ultimately used to control what you think, oh, and you get paid for that!’ most of them would have run a node.
There’s a mention in the whitepaper that you can download the content anonymously.
On top of that it would be nice to have some sort of summary of the possible anonymousity / pseudonymousity - or lack of those on the uploads.
Edit: Like , for example, if you upload some data permanently to the network, are the payment details linking the paying address to the data payed for recorded permanently too, on the blockchain or to the nodes?
Hey Toivo, just to say that I’ve seen this, will ask the guys to feed I this week, so that the description (and practicalities around payment tracing you mentioned) can be expanded upon
Hey hey, just to say, we will include a line to address this in the WP (have now done so), but will also do something more comprehensive (technical write up wise) in the documentation that will be accessible through Gitbook
The answer just so it’s attached to this thread is:
The payment only includes the hash of the quote provided by the node. So third party cannot extract the connection between the payer and the data.
