Update 8th August, 2024

Yeah, that is more like it - make it once a day I ping @chriso with a summary of the Qs perhaps?

Would there be any support for asking for nodes to be numbered safenode001 safenode002 etc to make sorting a whole lot easier?

I know it screws up those who want to run >999 nodes on one box but thats a far out edge case and safenode0001 safenode0002 is taking it too far…

@neo came up with this months ago and I think it may be worth pushing for.

Thoughts?

Great News, Well done all

I have questions (no hate, sorry if the tone’s not right, it’s not intended to offend anyone, I just want this network to be a success)

Can we get a Dev Beta Faucet pleaaaaaase - It’s literally pay per test at the moment, and I’m having to divert nano’s from my machines to pay for uploads  Track the spends in the Dag, to make sure no chancers try and use them for Beta Rewards - instant revocation of any earnings should cover it.

It’s sad to see some of the seasoned developers here, having to beg for nanos to write code, to help build and promote the network - If it means opting out of beta rewards to be allowed to code against Beta, so be it - but how it is at the moment is a sorry state.

To add to that I’m going to put it out there, that spends in the dag to be counted for rewards, should only come via one upstream node wallet address, before foundation pk - There’s allot of intermediary pk’s, before rewards beta pk - I’m sure people wouldn’t be scraping earnings to multiple discord id’s

And finally can we get the Dev forums consolidated, I have technical questions about an issue I’m seeing in the Xor name space, when getting nearest peers to a chunk address being inconsistent based on where I peer in the routing map - Where am I meant to ask that - Github issue ? on here ? the other dev forum ? it’s really confusing to know.

Yes, it’s great to see this happening - great work.

Might it be possible to use the proxy software to enable access to these websites from a mobile browser?

The more visible it all becomes the better, though I understand the team is very focused on getting the basic network operating smoothly & fixing issues.

Not currently. It would need to be modified to understand awe’s metadata, as well as to be able to access websites via registers (which is what enables them to be versioned).

And you havent even mentioned the five other Discord channels that it could hide in…

TBPH I think if you want dev eyeballs on it then the GH issues may be the most effective place to raise it - just copy the link back in here please, so we can all see it.

Hmph… There has been unintended logout / update / restart of my laptop and all programs had closed, but I’m not sure when. A few days ago. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

I know it is a bit early but if Archive.org could be a partner.

It would be great to be able to check a box in my wallet to donate a % of my earned tokens for the purpose of archiving Archive.org pages on Autonomi.

Actually, GitHub issues are mainly for bug reports. I think dev support questions should go to dev forum (but it seems nobody checks it), or here (although a Dev Support category would be nice to have).

another idea for your list how about having the safe wallet send command accept the --peer-id flag for sending nanos out from node wallets would make scraping a whole lot easier than at present ?

I’ll submit a list tomorrow so @chriso can get it for Monday.

Any other issues for the devs?

not off the top of my head

Maybe for the community rather than the devs, but I’d be interested to see if running nodes via Launchpad, safenode-manager and manually (safenode --owner discord_id) from a home node makes any difference to earnings. It shouldn’t do in theory, but several people have reported zero earnings using Launchpad. That’s been my experience too, but the sample size is too small to draw any conclusions. Also, what difference port forwarding makes, if any.

Ideally all this data would be being collected and analysed centrally but I don’t think that’s happening.

It’s very hard to get a useful picture based on ad hoc individual reports.

Come up with a proposal for a script to grep essential data from the log files and some way to centrally (oh the horror!!!) collate the reports.
I’ll host some server space to collate and summarise the logs if there is enough interest.

@chriso
As discussed above, here is a list of subjects the community would like you to raise with the dev team

1 The existing convention of numbering nodes from safenode1 up does not lend itself to optimal display and sorting.
Consider using a three digit node identifier with leading zeroes from safenode001 up to allow more convenient display and sorting.
I raised issue 2036 for this. If this is an inapproriate use of Issues, say so and I will close it,

2 Get the safe wallet send to accept the --peer-id flag. This will greatly simplify scraping wallets. Check with @aatonnomicc.

Since that comment I have had to restart my nodes due to unavoidable reasons.

When joining a network with some data as we have now it forces a more conservative number of nodes.

This was frustrating, the more is better mentality is like a the grip crack gets on people.

Anyway long story short, I am seeing a 90% drop in being seen as bad.

That is amazing, but it is not clear to me that I am earning any more or less.

That seems to be a issue.

  • One, figuring this out is realy not simple.
  • Two, It doesn’t seem to matter much if you overdo it in terms of rewards recieved but is it negatively affecting the network? (Proven to be, or not to be)

I started 12 about a week ago where before I was running 22 and had always had some shunning quite quickly.

I’ve stopped and started them, at least once for over an hour. Still no shunning. :man_shrugging:

Ahh, curve ball. Are we perhaps seeing shunning not happening for the wrong reasons.

Perhaps my original comment of not being seen as bad is cause for concern was correct
