is that the user-services that are just active when there is an active user session like ssh?

are you sure they were running @Josh or did they start the moment you logged in and therefore the count was pretty low in the first moment?

Hey @qi_ma, can you comment on the issues I mentioned in the post my above quote is from? If you are busy with other things, no worries, I’d just like to know if the issues I raised has been noticed by someone in the team or not.

Personally this is not a big issue for me, but I think that for any uploader it would be nice if the upload command could reliably confirm if the upload has worked or not.

My router state table should not be affected though, hugely.

But @riddim I don’t have a huge increase in shunnings, almost no increase which indicates no issue. very strange.

Glitch in the matrix.

hmmm - compared to yesterday my shunning-rate has roughly doubled (while everything looks super stable) … i’m not exactly sure about the meaning of this metric for me …

… atm i tend to ignore it for general node count adjustment (except it’s going through the roof) … and just having a look at it …

Yea, Feedback box showing the parameters set would be nice. @joshuef yarfl (yet another request for launchpad)

So a couple of lines showing discord ID, number of nodes with space reserved would be great.

Sounds like nodes started as user mode and logging off kills your running taks

If my nodes were truly offline overnight shunning should be through the roof.

After a quick gander it looks like earnings are down but that could be the usual drop we see after a few days.

Makes no sense my state table was around 200k when I went to bed, was at 7k when when I checked it this morining and that will correspond to status telling me I have virtually no peers connected.

Everything is now back to where it should be.

Should not though? I use node-manager. sudo.

Ah OK then you’re right it should not happen.

you mean on restart? yeah - probably you’re right - do you have logfile entries from somewhere in the night?

I am not seeing a obvious gap anywhere. I am stumped by what happened here. :man_shrugging:

Did the machine go into a sleep state being woken up when you logged in again via ssh

Do you get the same problem if you use nohup or screen?

I looked at one machine, it appears to have prepared for suspend 3 times but never did. Just to cover my ass I have disabled sleep, suspend, hibernate on all.

I use nohup when starting nodes as a process but these are all services via manager.

All signs point in different directions here, state table and peer count show something was wrong, bad node detection and logs say stop being daft nothing happened.

What a way to start the day.

Yes, user-mode services require an active user session.

This is not expected when starting with sudo though, could there be a bug.

Sorry, I was only responding to that isolated comment, not the other context.

What is it that’s not expected?

I should be able to log in and out via ssh to my hearts content if I start my nodes with sudo safenode-manager?

Not sure what happened but there was a gremlin, it is gone now.

Yeah, system-wide services definitely do not require an active user session. If you saw them stopping, my guess would be you created those services in user-mode by accident.

That seems logical. I start from a script that logs the start command. Will check shortly.

def started with sudo @chriso , from my startup log, sudo -S /home/wyse4/.local/bin/safenode-manager add --count 15 --owner joshclsn --version 0.106.5 --node-port xxxx-xxxx

someone added too many nodes to this network! whoever you are … you destroyed my chance for becoming rich -.-" …
