We need the “proof of person-ness” that David was seeking in the early days. I think that is going to be critical as the “AI revolution” takes over.
I agree and coming up with something that serves humanity and respects privacy is vital.
World Coin and scanning irises and receiving their coin as payment is creepy as hell.
I’m not sure that was put strongly enough, but I agree.
The people we are trying to get to use safe still think this isn’t a thing
The creator can use their private key to digitally sign the file. Others can use the creator’s public key to verify the signature against the file. No encryption is needed in this case.
Note that this approach is already used for confirming the authenticity of downloads files.
Exciting times ahead! Been following this project for 11 years or something. Nice to see this roadmap.
Where’s the reaction emoji when I need it?
Well its only 4 hours till Thursday.
First milestone has set a dangerous precedent, dates are being hastened instead of postponed! (screenshot from 9th March)
I’ve been a micro part of this amazing enterprise for years now and am really looking forward to the time in a couple months when someone with no coding capability will be able to join the active network, establish a node, and begin sharing with everyone. The project remains a stellar monument to those of you who have dedicated years of your lives to its creation and the ultimate benefits it will have to mankind without government interference.
Now that we are edging closer to the end of Q2 it would be nice to get an updated roadmap. If I’m not mistaken we had our first slippage “Integration with other wallets & Dedicated Wallet GUI”. Might be interesting to get an updated estimation from the team about the upcoming topics.
@happybeing you forgot to tick off some items.
I have also been pondering similar subject matter of authenticity, private/public data, autonomous privileging access based on whether I am alive…fot example. As I understood it ten years ago SN has no time clock.
My approach for developing decentralized apps on Autonomi where timing (one variable used for authentication) is included I will be using blockchains as the universal time clock for things like time-stamping data. Both networks Autonomi and Bitcoin should run for hundreds of years.
An oracle publishing the latest time periodically should be sufficient for most use cases. If several reputable sources can publish (signed data), it would be easy to take the average too.
In choosing to timestamp events/actions/transactions on SN at the App level It comes down to dNTP clock sourcing, which clock sources (Nations and locations) do you trust to last forever, non? (as well as clock source durability/accuracy of clock, Cesium or otherwise)
None of them individually or based on any one technology or location. The mean of a whole bunch of Stratum 0 ones of different types.
But it might just be something that an app based on the network isn’t well suited to try to keep track of. The distributed nature of the network and the flexible relationships between nodes doesn’t seem to lend itself to immediacy.
I find it hard to discern from the weekly development updates where the project is relative to the roadmap. Is there a layman’s update on progress vis-a-vis this roadmap? If I’m reading it correctly, the beta trial is to be completed in the next few weeks and a launch into general release is to follow after that. If I’m looking in the wrong place, please re-direct me. Thanks.
The team say that an update about progress, launch and other things will be presented in september soon.
