The Roadmap to Launch (and a glimpse beyond)

I think you’re asking me. I don’t know what MaidSafe have in mind if anything specific - they had some ideas in the past (everyone having an outbox that had limited capacity was one) but AFAIK nothing more specific has been said and that was a long time ago.

I was thinking about this when I was designing the Safe Room app, as a thought experiment design. It handles spam by ensuring all communications are opt-in because I cannot see a way of allowing unsolicited communication without it being vulnerable to DDoS using the APIs as they stand now.

Spam was just example from first old roadmap,my question is, what other things or examples aren’t done? (i ask maidsafe team)

We are delighted that you are picking up the torch for sure… but please know the radio silence is just down to absolute laser focus on the core of the Network, and hitting those timescales.

Just a quick thought: As external communication is ramped up it might make sense to take down / revise this page here in order to prevent any confusion: Safe Network

Yeah, that will all be coming down in due course

Has anyone else received the Shareholder update? I did, and as an investor I think we are not getting what we were told originally. I could be wrong, and will happily accept being corrected on this. Originally on the BNKtotheFuture pitch we were told that we were getting a share of the company/foundation that was going to be making apps on the network, and as an added bonus we would be getting about 100 network tokens per share. The way the shareholder update reads, that no longer seems to be the case. It says that we are only getting the tokens now. This makes no sense. Why wouldn’t people just buy the token for less money at the time if the token was the only benefit to owning the shares? Can someone please tell me I am interpreting the letter incorrectly?

It was and still is: you have a share in MaidSafe, but you can exit by exchanging that for SNT after launch. You don’t get both.

So you can keep your shares, but the token is probably going to be better value because MaidSafe is a small private company that isn’t going to follow the enrich the founders and shareholders route that most startups are designed to do.

Once the company is profitable, presumably that dynamic may change though. If the network is successful, maidsafe could profit well from improving the core network and apps.

I’ve not read the report yet though (although I do own shares).

That is not how it was presented by Nick Lambert in the Bnktothefuture pitch. They were struggling to get people to invest early in the pitch so they incentivized early investors with SNT 1 coin for every 4 GBP invested. This was a bonus in addition to the shares, not as one or the other type scenario. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgM06HFIYdc

Start at around 30 minute mark

The authority on this is the offer documents presented on the BTTF platform.

To be precise the BTTF set up a SPV company. The SPV held the Maidsafe shares, 5% target but underfunding it was reduced a bit. The investors who came though the BTTF got shares in the SPV and flow on benefits from that. In theory the shareholders of the SPV could collectively have a 3% (I think) vote in a Maidsafe shareholder meeting.

And as @happybeing you can swap or just receive (I thought receive and keep your SPV shares)

It is the early Maidsafe direct investors who can swap their actual Maidsafe shares for a portion of the 5% of SNT reserved for that purpose.

One thing I’m missing on the roadmap though is the launch party in Troon.

Would be great to pay for some rounds with Safecoin

Hmm, I’m trying to picture the face of the Scottish barman as he reaches and grabs you by the throat.

Off the record, I have it on fairly good authority that someone was told that Bux overheard @AJ_MS talking about a free bar.

@JimCollinson How can we leverage the Safe Network to ensure data integrity and verify the authenticity of digital content like videos, especially in an era where AI can create convincing fakes? A year from now this is going to be a huge problem.

Given its focus on privacy, is there a way to enable viewers to confirm that content, say a video, genuinely comes from my verified SN profile without middlemen or fakes, even when posted elsewhere? Can content be traced back to its creator if they wish to be identified, ensuring viewers know it’s authentic, like from Maidsafe and not a scammer?

I suppose @Nigel is focusing on this for music.

Authenticity is going to be as important as privacy. Maybe outside the current scope but I thought I’d ask.

Perhaps by encrypting it with creator’s private key and publishing the public key on creator’s official profile for everybody to be able to decrypt it?

edit: Nah, somebody else could copy the key and put it on his profile… But I’d search for this type of solution.

edit2: Perhaps a creator could simultaneously publish a record with his profile’s xor address encrypted with the same key, at the address, that would be a derived from a hash of the content? The public key could also be included in that record. That’s my idea, but perhaps there are standard ways of creating such proofs…

The technical solution is beyond my knowing. But the importance of authenticity is only going to grow. On SN we can have our private persona and create public outward facing personas. The key her is allowing people to know my content came from my openly public outward facing persona. I hate to use the blue checkmark analogy from twitter as it has been so abused but something like that where a consumer of content knows it comes from an authenticated persona.

Totally possible in my opinion.
