Safenet open-sourceness?

There is no mention of maidsafe / safenet being open-source, or not,
nor on https://maidsafe.net/,
nor on https://safenetwork.wiki
neither on the github front page

(There is also no Debian package.)

I’m a bit perplexed

Is safenet open-source or not ?
If yes, why not mention it on the main places ?

Thanks for who could clarify.

Yes it is open source - MaidSafe · GitHub
It works on Debian but you need to download the Zip files as there are no .deb packages as yet (or rpm etc).

I don’t know if the people from maidsafe consider this information (being open-source or not) as important.
But, in case if it is
… why not mention it clearly, as other numerous projects do, directly on the
github mainpage, wiki mainpage, maidsafe mainpage ?

CTRL-F “open” on all those pages returns just nothing.

Sorry, but for me, this triggers immediately a small orange warning light.

I think that’s a good point

It is all open source and I would say maidsafe are very proud of that fact. I hadn’t noticed the omission on the website, but it sounds like something which should be clear on the new website they are developing.

You need to look in the actual github project repositories. Everything is usually dual licensed under GPL3 or MCL (MaidSafe Commercial License).

We are very proud of our open-sourceness. It is something we are trying to bring to the forefront more in the new website. Thanks for the feedback
