i see where you are coming from but I am pretty sure just working together for the greater good does help more than starting a huge debate if the name is the best one or not (because clearly the message in the name is a strong one and this discussion would be passionate if it really would happen at some point …)

That might have actually been true back in 1996 when the internet was still in its infancy. My feeling has always been that keen marketing makes the biggest impact in the early stages of a product, like MaidSafe/SAFE Network.

Agreed. People will be using SAFE and not ever have concerned themselves with the name of the network. They will be concerned with their social media APP and their health APP and their mail APP etc.
Its the APPs that will need the catchy names, maybe even other crappy names similar to what google, or apple or sony did. Really Google was just a name the young guys thought of. Its a generic name from our numbering system and chosen by geeks.
Unfortunately though SAFEnet is taken by https://safenet.gemalto.com/ so we are using safenetwork. I doubt though that many non-geeks are going to be concerned about the name of the network, but rather the APP’s name that they will be using.
But as always if someone can come up with a better name that is worth changing to at this stage then lets explore it. Better than saying a name is not good without any alternative. Its easy to poo poo something without suggesting anything better and better to ask nicely if anyone has a better name. Even better to come up with the better name first.
Now SAFEcoin’s name is a more important matter and if anyone can come up with a viable alternative thats much better than lets hear it. Don’t poo poo the name but suggest better alternatives and say why its better preferably with some research as to why.
I think this has already been discussed before a few times. It does need to be a one click install, just like when say you want to view a pdf file and you have no viewers. “Click here to install”
Well it hasn’t here yet and its had a number of years to try. Here is mainly VB or XXXX and Guinness is met with “What warm beer …”
At least a one click install. Would be awesome if I could download an app first which then
checks for SAFE and installs them both in one go. Just a simple dialog that says ~ ‘Make a one time account for this and all the other awesome apps’ [ your best email ]. It’ll send al the login details to your email and promting
so change the codes etc.
Maybe it’s not really the app but really the SAFE Installer dressed up as the app.
If SAFE is installed it gets the app and visa versa.
Yes it was purposely designed to be boring, because the only folk uttering it’s name are Devs and they are known to be very boring, pimply and cannot hold a conversation with the opposite sex…etc etc It’s also kind of silly, because it has no sense of time…hows that going to work? oh and it’s also impossible, so they should probably give up and everyone should sell their useless coins unless ECR20 can save our bacon.
The real star of the show is SafeCoin, because it’s safe, instant, untraceable, anonymous and at present highly under valued. It’s also very viscous as it’s ‘the oil of the network’ and can be used to to keep autonomous sex robots operational around the clock …except there is no time on this network so I’m not sure how you can program the metal lady for a wake up massage.

I see here we have a nice click-bait sh**post on our hands. While I agree MAID makes me think of a cleaning service and needs to go, SAFE Network will be fine as a utility network in name and brand. But in the spirit of this forum thread I shall propose a new name since this post is just funny, CondomNet, “Never leak your seeds again!” can be our new name/slogan
I feel the same way. No need to change the name IMO.
Though, for fun’s sake…I have a name suggestion as well…
Trellis
A trellis has that same net type structure and is used to help nature grow. Fitting, considering the fact that SAFE is inspired by nature. 
Since this topic was created I have also done some thinking, so I also have a proposal.
If you want to make a product that raises attention you should always have some part of “Bitcoin” in the name and as networks “connects” people, I really think that if we can find a way to combine those two names it will be a sure winner! 
And already under the umbrella-designation “horizontal privacy”
