Like what I see so far. Have managed to set up website but am having problems with uploading and downloading either files or directories. When I select file I am unable to to select one (greyed out), and when I tried a directory it selected but did not register it. When I just tried to drag and drop the file (txt file) it displayed the content of the message in the app window and seems to crash the demo app as there is no way to exit this screen.

Some tips / workarounds:

  • To update your website you need to go into Manage files and delete any files you want to re-upload. Then upload the new files one by one.

I tried just deleting the ones I wanted to update and uploading the directory, but no files were updated so for now I think you have to upload each changed file individually.

  • things taking too long? the launcher seems to stop working from time to time and you may find either it hangs or the demo app hangs for long periods and then gives an error. If so, close both, start just the launcher. Log in. When successful, start the demo app and authorise it. Tip: don’t run ahead or try too many things at once. One step at a time seems to work reasonably well at the moment.

  • Log in and your website has gone / no services registered? After logging in, where you already have a public id and service, you may find it says “No services registered”. I found that I had to Create the service again, and re-upload / publish - sometimes two or three times before it would show the service again. After that, you’re ok, and the website should display again but the files will not be changed. To update them see my note above.

Ah cheers for flagging this up. Will get this filed in to ensure it validates the ownership. Currently with the latest routing API clients can determine the status of a network action accurately. It’s yet to get integrated into the client apps. Once its in, this issue should not occur, but its definitely worth keeping a note of and ensuring a test verifies the same.

my first attempt at a site did disappear. I thought it was me

Is it possible to allow cut and pasting. Into password fields to prevent keylogging?

anyone able to upload files on Mac?

I don’t think that copy/paste is safe, as a keylogger could steal your clipboard buffer.

Yes I’ve had problems; uploaded a site fine but strange behaviour for files and directories. See 5 posts above yours.

Jeepers that proxy business took me a while to figure out (I am a tech-tard though so no surprises there lol). I was using Chrome so Daniels vid was very helpful until the tricky bit, but by following the same logic on chrome I eventually got there. Thanks Daniel, I might have given up for tonight if it weren’t for you.

How exciting… time to play. :raised_hands:

Well done guys… hugely impressed!

Can’t get the demo app to work, but can see the websites.

Could not connect to launcher
Failed to connect with launcher. Launcher should be left running.

:frowning:

Is it free to have a website on the safe network? If yes can someone explain to me why is the current internet charging to have a website and not the safe network?

Wow. Win7 64bit. Registration, log-in, log-out, proxy set up Chrome all fine. Smooth as silk. This thing worked straight out of the box and I’m not a tech guy. Congratulations and thanks.

Set your Proxy (using the automatic url setting) using .pac file > http://visualiser.maidsafe.net/safe_proxy.pac

I would lose the reference to a .pac file (irrelevant) and say something like

Set your Proxy (using the automatic url setting) by pointing to this address: http://visualiser.maidsafe.net/safe_proxy.pac

Free during testing phases - will eventually cost safecoin tokens to add new data to the network which you will be able to earn by running a vault to contribute storage to the network as a whole.

Ubuntu 15.04 + firefox. Went smooth as silk. As @Seneca said, setting up a website is disarmingly simple. Great work.
