Lets just put it this way… the toaster oven… needed to go… it was getting in the way off a 15A circuit to be re-purposed for Autonomi / Home Lab stability…
Going to miss that toaster oven for a while… temporary sacrifices… will circle back to figuring out as and when it can get back online, depending on when an electrician can figure out a power solution at home that not only is allowed, but also keeps me fed and healthy (same for the computer equipment) .
That’s assuming I have that even as an option to consider, which I don’t, so it is what it is for now (no more crispy toast in the mornings… in the mean time… hahah).
When Autonomi goes live, the next decision will be resuming the toaster oven by turning off nodes or finding a crazy alternative solution… decisions… decisions… .
Has anyone tried the netgear orbi mesh network routers for running home nodes?
They seem like very decent options with high performance quad core cpu and ranging from 1 to 4 GB RAM. They’re much more expensive than the microtik routers I’ve seen mentioned here, but it would probably fix the wifi throughout the house. Keeping the wife from complaining
I’ve not tried them. I ended up with a Mikrotik. Once you dive into RouterOS which is deep, all aspects of network traffic can be adjusted.
I was overwhelming to see the layout of RouterOS but once I got familiar with it, all issues with bandwidth have been resolved. The wife does not complain. Nodes get maximum bandwidth.
