There are are clearly installation assumptions made on the part of Maidsafe devs for MS WIN11 installs having to do with the state of security settings on the WIN11 installation target.
In my case, I acquired this machine as used from a Grade 12 Student proficient, based on my security settings audit of tuning security by system , in changing the security specific setting on several folders and even files.
So me thinks those assumptions of the security state of the MS WIN11 installation target before installing -node-launchpad need to be revisited by maidsafe dev team, as not everyoneâs MS WIN11 Security environment is the same. Clearly mine does not work. (after 5 wipes and re-installs involving first 0.36 and then 0.37 versions of MS WIN11 node-launchpad.)
ie I donât run Norton(a never ending money grabbing play) and I turn off the Windows SecurityâŚ, as I have a Brave browser environment that is secure, blocking everything I donât want when I browser the net, the main source of everything nasty, as I maintain white lists of trusted sites.
Any Maidsafe feedback on what the pre-install state should be in terms of on systems security settings (dos and donâts), would be appreciated.
right now I am dead in the water, I cant get anything in the form of Autonomi MS WIN11 builds as of 0.37 to run on this MS WIN11 machine since I started on this adventure June 5th, first with version 0.36 of the MS WIN11 install.
I am a patient person, I have been a Senior QA and Release Manager for Commercial Software ( I know how hard it is to get it right), however after one week, I start to get âantzyâ ;/
I too have been unable to launch nodes since the beginning of Beta version testing on Launchpad on Windows, nor have I received an answer to any question I have asked, after yesterdayâs v. 108.3 update, Launchpad is still not working. Eventually I was able to run the nodes using the CLI but also all the time there were problems and unanswered questions.
Do you care about launching using Launchpad, or do you want to launch nodes at all? I can help you if you use Terminal and CLI on Windows.
@roland responded we got it fixed so far⌠4 nodes running , just examining the logs after 3 hours uptime to see what is going on with ver 0.39 node-launchpad buildâŚ
MS WIN 11 node-launchpad version 0.39 successfully launched 5 nodes and after three hours has cranked out 4MB of log data per node to help with debugging, a big break-through imo. you can see the 5 logs I posted @roland discord #beta-support channel , all feedback is only goodâŚkudos to @roland for staying up late in walk me thru the new install, pc system clean up and first successful launch of these nodesâŚ
It appears MS WIN 11 syncâing is the challenge, so maybe setting your node-launchpad and safenodes to "highâ priority in the MS WIN 11 Service Manager is the way to go, to give each node and node-launchpad enough prioritized clock on your system,
as MS WIN 11 Defender virus checker service is VERY aggressive in use of Clock and RAM while scanning Autonomi chunks stored or relayed by nodes on my system per my own Task Manager observations today, these past three hours.
Oh thatâs very intersting. So itâs not just âcan i start this binâ but âeverything this unknown bin does is suspectâ (because we donât have signing yet on windows). Good observation! That could well be impacting things across the board if weâve lots of windows users.
edit: thanks @rrieve for sticking with it, and @roland for helping there! to you both!!
Hey, I upped the status of the node-launchpad and the safenodes each to "Highâ Priority via Admin priv. to the Task Manager (in detail view mode) so all parts of Autonomi running on the target system are on âan even playing fieldâ with all the MS services given Autonomi really is a core set of servicesâŚ, makes it more responsive in theory
ok here are the safenode 1 thru 5 log files and my comments on Discord Beta (Wave 1) Bug Report channel Discord
The nodes are only working in relay mode⌠plus it appears two of the nodes are no longer generating new log files to store their logging data to their respective directory log files. Any thoughts please discuss on the Discord link⌠ty.
