I haven’t done much C++ in a while (and I was never that competent anyway) but I know enough to get into trouble - maybe there is some stuff that I could do like testing and maybe help track down a bug or two?

Jump in Phil, you can work away at the common lib as a start and perhaps look at coverage and improving it. That is a good start to get comfy.

Yes If you follow the build instructions Home · maidsafe-archive/MaidSafe Wiki · GitHub for your platform it should build pretty easily.

OK, I see there is Ubuntu and ArchLinux listed so far - I will let you know how I go with Fedora (v20).
