MAIDsafecoin, Price and Trading topic (Closed)

Agree. I am sure that was a fat finger incident. With just a little bit of patience, he could have made at least 300 more BTC. Surely it’s worth a few hours of click and clacking for that. Also, it’s a terrible idea to spook a rising market, of which you have many more coins in your stash that you’d like to sell.

well i think they dumped the other 1.5M a couple days later (yesterday) using the same method.

honestly i had no idea that mastercoin/omni foundation even had any safecoins, but be it as it may, i don’t agree with the poster who claimed that perhaps they saw an immediate opportunity to make that money back. no one cuts of their right arm with the hope that it will make their left arm stronger…

as you said yourself just spreading the orders out over the course of even a few days while not breaking the uptrend, just putting a drag on it would have garnered more money while also allowing them to re-invest the funds into another currency (if that was the point) without moving that market too much either.

Because they rely on facts.

Correlation…what would be the causation?

Anecdotally there have been these ‘fat finger’ sells at various points during MAID’s history. I too think that it is probable it is an early mastercoin investor as they managed to get a real good chunk of coins at super cheap prices. As far as motivation, well that’s anyones guess, but the cool thing is that this seemingly irrational market player will only be able to do this a finite number of times, with the effect of their actions diminishing over time as more Safecoin are farmed into existence.

Didn’t you work for mastercoin?

Also, certainly folks from mastercoin have been selling all the time for sub 5000 satoshi so dumping at 18000 satoshi, no problem. It’s not a big deal, it’s okay to sell that is what markets or for, buying and selling

So that’s BTC coming in…interesting way of thinking about it, the chips aren’t sitting on the table. SAFEcoin and coins issued on top, would not have this issue.

SAFE could usher in the end of Altcoins on the Blockchain?

Yes, It is coming. Yes. Instant alt coins, no confirmation nonsense.

yes, but like i said i dont remember the foundation having invested in the ICO but clearly the main address holds some maid; have no clue how that came to be.

i usually try not to sell any crypto unless i need money for something in the real world…

So is the end result, more or less of this type of asset you think?

I think right now alt-coins are speculative instruments. Most of the alt-coin marketplace is just fueling the gaming activity of traders.

In the future I think there will be more reality to this. People will issue alt-coins that actually generate revenue on a network with general utility. Rather than forks of bitcoin with diluted utility.

So I think there will still be speculator’s market fulfilled, and I hope that we find more useful things to do with alt-coins than simply to be used as part of pump and dump where only the traders benefit. I see that for this all to be viable a real value needs to be met for all people.

just a personal opinion, I’m shocked none of the mastercoiners would come back around and just say “Hey Nick, here is the rest of the funds we accidentally absorbed off you”

“we hear you were raising funds for the project, we remember how half of the money you were intending to raise went to us and you got bottle caps, here it is go get em done”

and how beneficial that would be to their personal wealth… speaking of cutting of your right arm hoping the left gets stronge… can’t say some folks wouldnt try that

well i think you are being presumptuous in making that statement, but then i do not have any insight into that and am not in a position to participate.

we can share personal opinions

I like fairy tale stories best.

I know we’re well passed that; But I dare to dream, and I have huge faith in people and humanity to do extraordinary things; and against the trends.

And it is especially great when those actions lead to advance. Nonetheless, as a good friend mentions @we_advance “the universe has our backs”

see you later @prophetx take care man.

I was observing the MAID crowdsale as it was happening. I know the mastercoin (MSC) dumpers get hate but I think they played a vital role.

MSC holders were slowly but surely starting to realize that what they were holding is garbage but there was really not a good way to dump their investment in MSC, there was not that much liquidity. This MAID crowdsale was seen as a first good way to get rid of your MSC and many people took advantage of it. This is common knowledge, of course.

BUT their dumping of MSC was so intense it ignited the fear of missing out (FOMO) in the whole crypto community and people were desperate to get onboard. Since so much money (well MSC, but it was considered money) was flowing in the logical conclusion was that it must be awesome. The emotional rollercoaster this crowsale produced made it the fastest sold-out and also the biggest crowdsale in the crypto world at that time. The next few days people started to realize that maidsafe was quite vaporware since there wasnt really much info on it. The broad concept got more.or-less communicated over but how it really worked was a mystery and there was nowhere to look for the info. People got disillusioned quite quickly.

Now my understanding and personal experience watching the crypto community is that maidsafe might not have even got half of that bitcoin pie if you take away the MSC fury that was the ignition. People didnt really know what they were investing in and they had NO time to research since time was ticking. This crowdsale brought out one of the strongest characteristics in the crypto world - the emotional mania.

Yah I come to the same conclusions @anon96570664 and I still like fairy tales  :sunrise_over_mountains:

btw welcome to the forum

I think Maidsafe would have been happy in hindsight to have taken the chance of a pure BTC sale as the Omni are worth not much.

But, I do see hope…move omni onto the Safenetwork as an asset to enhance it’s utility and value. Turn the company into a crowd sale facilitator on SAFE. Maybe then Maidsafe can realize some of the potential that was lost.
