MaidSafeCoin is now available on the Ethereum blockchain, thanks to eMAID

Am I still able to convert to eMAID? The original post says its only open for 1 year post launch?

Has anyone had to do the video call when exchanging maid to eMaid?

I dont remember kyc process, maybe video verification, but definitely not call as speak with someone

Only people on the interpol money laundering and terrorists financing list are selected for that.

 nah, it has been a long time but I think that I did a video call.

Many a long year ago, my 18yo son was stopped for a “random” inspection on the way to the gates area by one of the security people (just a flight to another city not international). Had 3 of my kids in tow and out of 30 or so people the security picked the 18 yo lad with a backpack and scruffy hair. Profiling in force. Then same happened when entering a cricket match stadium. And they claim its totally random, even when I challenged the security guy.

[EDIT]Bag inspection that is, and these were on entry to the areas after all the ticket stuff and passed the entry point

It’s a one off, fully part of the process beyond a certain threshold

Oh yeah. In my early 20s i had blue hair, piercings, and tattoos (25 years ago before everyone and their grandma was doing it) and took a trip to Glacier national park.

Got pulled over in Montana and given a ticket for going 73 in a 70 zone. Cop was a dick. He did write in “blue” for hair color on the ticket, though, which amused me later, cause it was really mostly blonde, whith some strands of blue.

We stopped off at a gas station afterward, and i was steaming, so went in by myself; my "normal"friends and brother came in after.

When we got back in the car my friend was saying that the cashier was poking fun at my hair (fair, in retrospect) and said something along the lines of “that guy having ridiculous hair” and my friend said, “i know, i dyed it for him” and cashier got all sheepish.

So that at least got me laughing.

But the next day we went in to Canada. My brother was driving the lead car and got through the check point in a couple minutes, but i was stopped “randomly” for a two hour vehicle inspection.

Pretty amusing to me now, but i was not so jolly at the time.

Thankyou all for this initiative and providing much desired liquidity.

Please can I ask anyone in the know, or perhaps @SwissPrivateBanker himself whether this Stakehound incident from a few years back has any implications for the conversion?

Thankyou

The two things have nothing in common. When you migrate an OMNI MAID token to ERC20, you burn it, you don’t give it to a third party for storage, i.e. if the third party loses access to their keys, the worst that can happen is that the last person who burned OMNI Maid does not get an ЕRС20 eMAID and the migration is terminated.

Thank you and understood.

I meant more from the perspective of whether it would undermine our confidence in Stakehound to have created a watertight smart contract if they themselves lost some 38,000 ETH. I appreciate they are attributing the loss to a third party but perhaps raises questions about their own due diligence.

But I suppose in some ways my question is redundant, as no issues have been reported yet.

Anyway, not trying to dampen the mood, just looking for a balanced view on it.

If at any point in time there is a problem, we will take the data from the previous block and rebuild things in a new smart contract. We have enough similar cases in the crypto history:

No it has no impact.
We built the bridge with them whilst we knew already what had happened.
Edgars, their lead IT guy is an amazing solidity & smart contract dev.

Fireblocks screwed them hard by misplacing the keys of their own smart contract, but this incident is isolated and completely unrelated to eMAID.

Btw what happened is infuriating. As a third party provider, we would have kept a copy of the multisig in a safe for free. We were partner with Stakehound and were sharing portion of their revenues.

38k ETH is a lot of money…
